Private page is shown instead

Hi there,
even if I set up the “TV” page as Private in my Newsmag based site (http://352.be7.myftpupload.com/tv/), it is always shown! The only way to hide that page is to protect with a password byt it seems not well suited. I suppose that a private page mustn’t be shown to surfers, isn’it? How I can get that page hidden to site surfers?
Thanks a lot in advance for any appreciated suggestion.

Hi

The theme doesn’t control if a page is protected or not, it only controls the layout and the elements displayed on it. To make a page private you would need a plugin but I can’t make any recommendation as we didn’t test this feature with the theme and I don’t know how plugins with similar functionality will work with Newsmag theme.
I found here some useful information in this regard, maybe will help: http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-make-your-wordpress-blog-completely-private/

Thanks for the message!

Hi Andrei,
reading the page you’ve linked (http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-make-your-wordpress-blog-completely-private/), in the paragraph “Making Individual Posts Private in WordPress” it says: “WordPress comes with a built-in feature which allows you to make posts or pages private and password protected. Here is how to make a WordPress post private…”. In fact, the editor allows to set the page as “private” even if after it doesn’t do what it must. What you think about it?
Thanks!
Giuseppe

Hi

When the page is set as private will be displayed only for admin or any other user with proper capabilities and for others users WordPress will return a 404 page not found error: http://screencast.com/t/rqLjGCtyAjhttp://screencast.com/t/C1bmQHDtw
When the page is password protected will be displayed for every one which have the password for that page.

Thanks!
