I would like to sugest you new update for the them. I think that sitemap page is missing in this theme.
After I check my website with google tools I get folowing sugestion:
Site not following these Google guidelines:
– sitemap for visitors guideline
I think it will be good to have sitemap.
And I have another problem. I can make “Archive” page to work. I created custom link in the menu like “mywebsite.com/2010/”, but when I click that link on my website it redirects me on a Homepage. No archive page!

Note – you should use a sitemap plugin, like Yoast SEO, or XML sitemaps. These create proper XML compliant sitemaps for Google.
The “old style” sitemap “pages” with list of all site content are no longer needed for search spiders as they are not easily or quickly readable and don’t contain modern elements like publish time, update time, or priority.

Both of the above do exactly what is needed to submit proper sitemap to both Google and Bing/Yahoo. 🙂
Thanks Christopher for your replay. I am using Yoast SEO xml sitemap and I have submited it to webmaster tools. This part is OK. But when I run google page checker he finds xml site map for google, but after that step it comes step where he checks link on my site to the xml site map and there finds no link.
Should I just add link to Yoast SEO xml sitemap to my bottom menu? Do you think that would be OK? That way I would have link to xml sitemap directly on my site.

check out Yoast SEO settings, maybe you can do some tweaks to your sitemap that will be compliant with google.

Hi, the Yoast XML sitemap works great with Google – we use it every day for that 🙂
Trick is submitting the location of the sitemap to Google for scanning, and then it takes them a day or two to scan; and then will tell you of any errors scanning the content.
You do NOT need to put a link to the sitemap in your page info as you don’t want search engines to “spider” the sitemap, only READ it (meaning you don’t want sitemap showing up in search results).
To get the right link to the actual sitemap, click the LINK on the Yoast SEO sitemap setup panel tab/menu. And then submit THAT link to Google in your webmaster tools account.
Bascially it’s: http://yoursiteurl.xyz/sitemap_index.xml
obviously, helpful to look at your sitemap in a web browser (IE actually works better for this …), which will be an index if you have lots of pages, and then multiple files per 1000 pages.

But the problem is that using WordPress SEO, the main page is set in the page-sitemap.xml and with Weekly Ch. Freq. Not should be daily? Not should be in the post-sitemap.xml?
So, If you do not want the pages to be indexed then HOME PAGE doesn’t appear on search results…
Any way to fix this?

See the Yoast SEO support forum. The theme doesn’t manage Yoast settings.
Ok sorry friend, but then you are recommending (up in this post) something that doesnt work properly with newspaper theme.
Works properly for me and tens of thousands of other websites, friend.

Again, the issue you bring up has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS THEME. So why are you bringing it up here? Why not go read up on any issues with Yoast on the Yoast FAQs, support forum, or contact them directly. YOAST is a plugin which manages a sitemap for you; the theme has no interaction with the issue you’re having, so “doesn’t work with the theme” is not relevant; works with my copy. Works for others.
if you need to change a function of Yoast or use a different XML sitemap solution, it’s totally up to you. You may wish to go explore the various options on the WordPress plugin repository. Lots of choices for XML sitemap creation.
Your mileage may vary.
To be more clear:
there is no need for home page to be updated daily technically, as most home pages are a summary of content already being indexed, and the content summaries on home page may change hourly, vs daily, and have no long term benefit in SERPS, as the content changes rapidly and so would not be relevant to search the following day if updated daily. This is “normal” practice as the line up summary of content found elsewhere in site pages would be the primary item you want in search not the home page version which is only lead in to the full text version of content. You don’t want them fighting each other. Most home pages for news portals are technically duplicate content in most respects.
Yoast’s WordPress SEO is setup for that thinking; also most corporate sites don’t change daily either. SO, hence why so many “SEO experts” use Yoast and their take on this process (I’ve been doing SEO since March 1995).
HOWEVER – if your needs are different, and/or if “you know better” for your use case, then try this one (which we also use for some websites):

This may work better for your particular use case, regardless of THEME being used; as the XML sitemap system you choose has nothing to with the theme settings beyond the data you are entering for pages and posts such as tags, keywords, post slugs, etc. — The theme doesn’t manage the sitemap or any of the special data found in the XML sitemap plugin you choose for your use.
