NewsMag does not work with Yoast SEO!

I just updated Yoast SEO to latest version 3.0.1 and I had NewsMag 2.3 version installed, but theme crashed. So I updated theme to the latest version 2.3.1, but the theme still doesn’t work.

The problem is visible when I want to add new post to my site. I don’t see buttons on “text” menu, I can’t switch to “Visual” menu. I can’t insert tags (the button for tags doesn’t work). The button “Add media” also not working.

I deactivated Yoats SEO plugin and everything works, but with plugin is not working!!!

I also updated Yoast SEO to latest version 3.0.1 on site where I use Newspaper theme 6.5.1 and there I have no problems. Everything is working. Only NewsMag theme doesn’t work with latest Yoast plugin.

Can you help me?

The all new version of YOAST may have some bugs; hence the inevitable 3.01 dot update and likely further dot updates from Yoast. Likely good to go BACK to prior version for the moment.

New version of Yoast using various JavaScript things now in place of dbase things.

Likely major clearing of caches/CDN reset will be required.

Chris THX for help! Clearing the browser cache saved the day! 🙂

I also find this topic on WP: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/yoast-seo-301-shows-only-empty-box-and-tabs-cant-be-clicked

But this error still exists https://wordpress.org/support/topic/where-to-post-the-meta-description I hope they will fix it soon!

Yeah… I usually wait a couple of days for new full dot versions of YOAST, as they have totally crashed my site a couple of times. They seem to push the new version out then use the customer base as the beta testers, then they do 1-4 updates, then it’s good to go.

With them moving so much to Ajax/JavaScript there is already a ton of things happening in the admin panel with JavaScript, so it’s going to cause some major funky things as it’s totally different how they’re actually doing stuff. Probably need to go through and resave every option panel in YOAST 3x to be safe (as had to be done in couple of older versions).

We’re upgrading to a ‘pro’ license with them soon, so we can report goofy stuff and get reply.

Color me paranoid!! 🙂

Next time I will do exactly that Chris!

In the meantime I installed WP Rollback plugin and return Yoast SEO to 2.3.5 version!

Hi

I’ve test the SEO By Yoast plugin V3.0.1 with the theme and seams to works fine: http://screencast.com/t/Q9rO8zFf However we will investigate more the plugin’s behavior with the theme. Please provide more details about the plugin’s configuration that you’ve used so we can duplicate the situation and investigate it in order to find a solution. Also you can test this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer and Yoast active, just to make sure that there isn’t a conflict with another plugin.

Thanks!

Theme works with SEO By Yoast plugin V3.0.1 after you clear browser cache. After that only problem is that you can’t change Meta-Description or Title in the snippet under each post. This is a link to the problem: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/where-to-post-the-meta-description

If you have the same problem let me know. If it works with you, then I will send photos of my SEO configuration.

My regards, Z

Yoast has now updated to v3.0.2. I have found this corrects some problems I was having (I can now select sidebars, post styles, etc. which I couldn’t before), but it still doesn’t seem to want to play properly.

Doesn’t like Visual Composer, doesn’t save titles or meta descriptions and the SEO analysis seems broken. I may need to keep on clearing the caches, but so far it doesn’t seem to be helping.

Maybe the inevitable v3.0.3 will sort it out…

LOL….
well, there you go. I’m waiting for 3.04. Not that I don’t trust them, but ….

All kidding aside, they did major major changes to their engine, and I’m not fond of the outbound site check ‘feature’ and will need to see if that can be disabled (we self check our own site, we don’t need yet another ping from a site).

Upshot — you may experience all kinds of issues unrelated to ANY theme while they sort out the compatibility issues in 3x.

But I’m pretty sure anybody reading this thread has figured that out by now! 🙂

I salute all you brave souls taking the plunge early and breaking the virtual trails. Bravo!

Hi

@zokolus
I’ve testet V3.0.3 of Yost plugin and works fine. I can edit the meta descriptions for each post: http://screencast.com/t/nzPQR92J9Cd and the changes can be viewed in html source code: http://screencast.com/t/hC2VE9Wm
Please provide more details about your plugin’s configurations so I can duplicate it on my side and inspectid in more details.

Thanks!

I installed V3.0.3 (previously I tested only V3.0.1), but I had to make rollback again.

I still can’t edit snippet preview. When I click on title in snippet preview – the title disaperes – the same is with snippet preview of meta description. It just disaperes!

Which plugin’s configurations do you need? There is a lot options and I need to know which do you need.

Anyway I will wait for next update of plugin, because this is makes me crazy!

My regards, Z

There is no “special configuration” for YOAST with the theme. Basically just go through all the options in YOAST and re-save, and make changes as needed for your setup.

3.03 seems to work, finally. Be sure to DELETE the old YOAST plugin folder, not over-write it. Then clear caching, etc. including browser cache.

I have installed V3.0.4 of Yoats SEO, clear browser cache, clear cached pages and still have the same problem. The snippest for titles and meta description disaperes!

I deactivated JS composer and my website went blank! I had to install theme again from scratch!

But then I found the problem!!!!!! It looks that yoast SEO plugin has the problem with Firefox 42.0 browser. When I try to edit snippest in that browser the field disaperes! But when I try to edit snippest in Chrome — everything works in V3.0.4!!!!

Don’t use Firefox 42.0 until yoast SEO finds the error!!!!!

My regards, Z!

Also note you can see bug reports for YOAST SEO here:
https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues

note a LOT of people are going back to the 2x version for the time being until possibly a 3.05 or 3.06 bugfix catches up to all use cases — by switching a lot of their core to JS, they ran afoul of how a lot of browsers, WP admin, and other plugins mess with all things javascript/Ajax.

If you are having major issues, it’s “suggested” by a lot of folks to roll back to prior version of YOAST until the dust settles and/or wait for WP 4.4 to come out in a few days (?) where compatibility issues between the two are more in sync.
