Twitter and Facebook doesnt work as expected in 3.4

Hi.

Well, the problem is the social share buttons now are kind of useless, at least for me.

Twitter just display de URL, no exceprt or the title is displayed in the tweet.
The Facebook button now prompt me to do an aditional click just to share the post in my profile. I think is easier (and prefered) for almost everybody to just do a simple “like”.
Also, there is no count of tweets and likes.

It would be nice to have that features, or the option to use the older share layout.

I agree. I like the styling of the new buttons but miss the count and the twitter title when sharing.

I like the new look, but the Twitters needs to write the title or somehting, not just the url. 🙁

And how do I use only the share code from before with the currend update?

The beauty of social share buttons is that they do all the work and make it easier for everyone to share what they like.

As a reader I don’t want to have to type anything when using a twitter (or other) social sharing button. If I have to type (or even copy and paste the title), the chances are – I am not going to share the article.

As a publisher, I want to know that my shared content will look good and not spammy when shared on social media.

The problem with just having a link in the sharing space is that most people won’t bother to type anything to identify the content. Once shared, apart from looking a bit spammy, not many will click on the link by itself.

I am not sure how to put the old code back, but happy to follow a tutorial if you guys are not prepared/ not intending to add the title back.

The share count is also a big thing for me as a publisher. I want new readers to see how many times the article they read has been shared. Hopefully that will encourage them to share it too.

You guys know about the power of social media more than anyone, so why hide the share count?

Hi,

@Arved007
we will take a look , please can you give us your site URL to see the issue.

@markla
You can take the code back from an old version if you have one, but is a little complicated. We will think about this, if is possible to add back the old sharing to.

Thanks!

Hi, @Marius, I downgraded cos of this sharing behavior, but any post of your demo site does exactly the same: no count for shares, Twitter displays only the ULR and you need to do a couple of clicks on Facebook insted of just “like it”.
