Having an issue with the post editor

I logged in to my WP only to realise I was no longer able to view anything inside of the editor. Please find a picture for reference below:

However, I’m able to add text in the ‘text’ part (and not the ‘visual’ tab).

This happened when I was on wordpress 4.3. I updated my WP to 4.4, but the issue persists.

Any help?

New version of Newsmag out today might address this?

thanks for your reply Chris. I believe the update will fix it, but I would like to know why the issue occurred (I hadn’t changed anything) so I can ensure it doesn’t happen again. Also, I would love it if I’m able to get the editor working without having to go through the entire theme update procedure (which wasn’t particularly enjoyable for me the last time 🙁 ).

Cheers

I think it might NOT be a theme issue. Might be a plugin conflict with Ajax, or something else.

Theme update does NOT appear to have anything to do with this issue.

Often clearing your cache in your web browser — and also if you’re using any caching plugin or CDN plugins for your site — are necessary after WP updates. With Chrome, in particular, you often have to clear the history to get cache to actually clear vs doing f5 refresh.

Updated the theme and also reinstalled WordPress a couple of times, but the issue persists. Even worse, the theme isn’t loading any pictures anymore.

Urgent help needed, I’m at a big loss here.

Maybe check to see if your hosting company “changed” something like going to PHP 7 or some other oddball thing; since WP cannot “suddenly” change overnight — meaning one day it works, next day it does not, unless something changed in your plugins, settings, or at hosting level.

I’ll do that Chris.

Meanwhile, the problem is getting bigger. No images are being displayed on the entire website, and this is how the WP Super Cache admin looks:

I’ve re-installed WP 4.4 twice, doesn’t help. Please let me know what I can do next, I’m losing my mind over this now…

Well, your site is messed up. Nobody here can help you with the back end.

Switch to default twenty-fifteen theme.
Make backup of all your site files via FTP; make backup of dbase via phpmyadmin.

Clear cache; disable cache plugins. Delete cache plugins. Delete any additions to the htaccess file from the caching plugins if yours do that for custom rewrites.

a) disable and remove all plugins except for Visual Composer – a bad, compromised, hacked, broken plugin can break other stuff; rename the plugins folder xplugins to reset for WP
b) install CLEAN version of WP via FTP (delete the wp-admin, wp-includes; all the root WP files except config); upload the new ones from the wordpress.org zip download
c) login to WP; rename plugins folder back to plugins
d) turn on visual composer
e) turn on the TagDiv theme

See where you’re at.

Hi

Thanks @Chris for all your help.

@yash3339
sorry for the late response but we don’t work on week-end. I’ve checked your site and seams to be displayed fine now: http://screencast.com/t/ZqqAvPgH4Qh If you still have the issue with the back-end please address us via email at contact@tagdiv.com including a link to this conversation and also give us wp-access so we can have a closer look at this and we will get back to your as soon as possible.

Thanks!

@Chris

Thanks for your help across the forum mate, we owe you a beer. Before trying out what you suggested, I turned off cloudflare’s CDN (tried it before but that didn’t fix it) but this time I let the change take effect for a couple of hours before checking again. and BAM! It was working. I’m still having the mis-alignment issue though (not #1 on the priority for now).

@Andrei
, I’m aware you guys don’t work weekends, no rush. Cheers.

I’m glad this is fixed. Will be moving to a better server tonight.

Oh I guess we don’t get the fancy emoticons here … thought you could put a beer emoticon in there 😉

Still figuring out the darn emoticons — just realized I didn’t know how to put the beer icon in there either!

Anyway — glad to help.

Happy holidays!
