I know that I can do this with a full customized homepage BUT I lose the paginator when I do this and the paginator is very important to me.
I ask this because I would like to have a homepage like this: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/category/module-8-category/ (with a 2 column slide) and then the articles with a paginator.

Is not posible, sorry for that.
What you can do is to use this template: Homepage – with article list and add the slider directly in code, something like here: http://screencast.com/t/wvDhzF7TZVBs

You add the shortcode of the slider there, but the slider doesn’t know on what column is and you need to fix the height via CSS
