adding a downloaded widget that's not part of Visual composer

I want to add a downloaded widget to a side column on a page I have designed in visual composer.
I do not see a way to do that.

I think you add a “widgetized” sidebar; then use normal sidebar element for the widget under WP admin > appearance > widgets …

The theme don’t have a download widget, you will need a plugin to achieve that. As @Chris suggested you can use a sidebar under Appearance > Widgets. Also you can use a widgetised sidebar block from Visual Composer: http://screencast.com/t/pDSzj6rtL6
If you still can’t manage to solve this issue please provide more details about it so I can get back to you with a more specific answer.
