Hi guys,
I am aware that you don’t offer support for 3rd party software or plugins. Actually I am having problems with integrating a plugin that is working perfectly fine with other themes I tested into Newsmag. So my guess is it’s is related to your theme which then makes it eligible for support?! 😉
Anyway … maybe it is a simple thing because you might already have an idea.
Here is the problem:
I want to use the plugin “MyEffecto-Instant Visual Feedback” in every post (not in pages or anywhere else, only in posts).
In its advanced settings it allows you to configure where to show the feedback-bar.
I uploaded some screenshots of it working in another theme and the corresponding backend page here:
http://ubersocial.de/myeffecto-2014-working-frontend.png
http://ubersocial.de/myeffecto-2014-working-backend.png
Also some screenshots of Newsmag and the not working/not showing plugin on frontend here:
http://ubersocial.de/myeffecto-newsmag-not-working-frontend.png
Backend Newsmag (with all options selected at this moment):
http://ubersocial.de/myeffecto-newsmag-working-backend.png
Funny thing is that while the feedback bar is NOT showing on the page itself it does show in the MEGA Menu (created from the same page …). So actually it IS working but just doesn’t show anywhere.
Please advise. Thanks.
Note:
a) not all plugins are fully updated for WordPress 4x
b) not all plugins work properly with the bugs in WP 4.4.1
c) not all plugins fully follow proper WP modern plugin programming guidelines (‘the law’) as laid down by Automattic..
So if one or more of those is true a plugin might not work at all with more complex themes.
Main trick generally is to turn off all other plugins except visual composer, clear all caching, turn off any minification tools, check to see if the plugin you’re using works, and check the console for errors (F12).
Check the plugin has been updated for all the recent changes to WordPress. if the plugin has not been updated in a while it likely will stop working.
Hi Chris S,
thanks – but I already did all of this. The plugin is compatible up to WP 4.4.1, see https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/instant-feedback/
I turned of everything except VC and even tried the plugin on numerous other themes. All worked without a problem, even newer and more complex ones (ENFOLD for example). So I don’t think it has to do anything with the plugin …
Still thankful for every hint you or anyone else might provide.
Unfortunately the plugin is not tested to work with the theme and we cannot guarantee it will work 100%. We have not tested this plugin and we have no idea of the plugin functionality in order to provide an answer. Unfortunately time does not allow us to provide plugin implementation support. However I’ve done a quick test and the plugins seams to work fine with the current version of Newsmag theme, V 2.3.5: http://screencast.com/t/wsnryYxI Try to update the theme at the latest version available on themeforest, here is our documentation in this regard: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ clear all caches then test again, it may help.
If you still can’t manage to solve this my advice is to find someone to help you with plugin’s implementation or also you can look for another plugin with a similar functionality.
Thanks!
Hi,
thanks for your time looking into this. I just bought the theme 2 days ago and have 2.3.5 – so that is not an issue. I even did a clean install elsewhere and checked it. Not working. Which setup (can you post a full screenshot?) did you use to test it?
We researched your theme _after_ deciding for this plugin so it is most likely we will just use buyer protection from facebook and return your theme while looking elsewhere if we can’t get this to work.
Cheers, Oliver
It is definitely a bug of some kind.
The plugin is working with Newsmag V 2.3.5 as long as I don’t have a MEGA MENU (from a page) in my main navigation menu. If I don’t add a MEGA MENU (from a page) to the Header Menu (main) the plugin is displayed correctly on every post prior to the comments section.
If I add a MEGA MENU (from a page) the output is lost on every single post and is displayed in the MEGA MENU (from a page) instead. And only there. EDIT: and only(!) if I am in single post view (where the output of said plugin should be visible …).
So I guess it has something to do with how Newsmag handles CSS classes to display a MEGA MENU (from a page). Unfortunately the documentation is more than meager on this …
Any ideas?
@andrei_luca – did you use a MEGA MENU (from a page) in your screenshot?

Hi
I used the plugin with the basic Newsmag configuration:
-theme version : 2.3.5
-Visual Composer version 4.9
-MyEffecto version 2.7
I also used the plugin with a mega menu and seams to work fine: http://screencast.com/t/wG5kAddHgleh You can try to make a new local install on your computer, with the latest version of WordPress, the current version of the theme available on themeforest, V 2.3.5, Visual Composer and MyEffecto plugins and test again.
Thanks!
Thanks for your feedback but you probably didn’t read my last comment? It IS working with MEGA MENUs but not with those (from a page). The screenshot shown by you has a MEGA MENU (from a category).
I also -of course- have the newest versions of each installed as you could also deduct from my writing above.
Your theme is breaking it as soon as you use a MEGA MENU (from a page). If you do this, the plugin’s output is somehow displayed in the MEGA MENU and not in the post.
To better show you where the problem is I set up to dev installations
A)
http://ubersocial.de/bricktest/ (where the plugin is working fine – NO MEGA MENU from a page present)
check a single post entry and you will see the plugin working: http://ubersocial.de/bricktest/2016/01/11/hello-world/
B)
http://ubersocial.de/brickmag/ (theme is breaking plugin – MEGA MENU from a page IS present: Bricktopia, Themenwelten)
check a single post entry and you will see that the plugin is ONLY displayed IN THE FIRST MEGA MENU “Bricktopia” (but not the 2nd “Themenwelten”) instead on the post!
I’d still be very interested in any hint you could provide. Still believe it is a CSS problem with your theme.

Hi
I’ve checked this and is not a css issue. Seams that the plugin interprets the mega menu page as a post and display the icons there. I am not sure why this happens as I am not aware of plugins implementation but most likely you will need some tweaks in plugins files or in theme files in order to accommodate their’s functionalities. This is a complex task and I can’t provide a solution now. You can try to modify the function which generate the page mega menu if you want: http://screencast.com/t/SHE2jNG6 or also look in plugin’s files and try to identify where the problem could be.
Please consider that this is a complex task which require good coding skills. If you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to do this for you as we can’t offer customization services at the moment.
Thanks for the message!
Hi,
thanks for your answer. Alas it leaves me unsatisfied. As the plugin works flawlessly with every single theme I tested it with it seems to be a bit odd to me that you claim it’s not a theme-problem … it is -after all- only your theme having these problems.
I explicitly bought your theme to use it in a specific relaunch. We usually test all plugins and such as early as possible (same here) and only use those that don’t cause any problems. As we couldn’t test it with your theme before buying it your piece of advice is not helpful.
Especially since we stumbled across someone offering the Newsmag theme (not the actual version) for free (and the offer seems to be legit) we are heavily disappointed atm. In the end it is the content that makes or breaks a website but carefully chosen plugins that drive traffic and add value to users and publishers alike also have their share in the equation.
I also disagree with you that it must be a complex task because you either messed up the theme or the plugin programmer messed up the call to where it should be inserted. As all other themes work fine so far you can make up the numbers yourself …
Hi
The plugin conflicts with our theme because of this line of code: http://screencast.com/t/6DlBqnYI9z By removing that line the plugin will work fine but the page mega menu won’t be displayed anymore. The mega menu page generated by the theme retrieve the content using this WordPress filter: 'the_content' and I suspect that the plugin does the same. In this situation the plugins implementation has to be changed such that its action to be applied only on the post content, not on the content from page mega menu. The problem with Newsmag theme is that MyEffecto apply its action to fast. The theme can control when a plugin acts only if have a rewrite rule. To write such a rule is necessary to study plugin’s implementation and update the code in order to make it compatible with the current theme.
I am not aware whit what themes did you test the plugin before but if those themes did not have a feature like mega menu or page mega menu, the plugin might have had a different behavior.
Our theme have many specific features which have a specific implementation in order to return the best result. However we cannot make the theme compatible with all plugins available out-there. Unfortunately the time doesn’t allow as to offer plugin implementation support. This is a task which involve custom work and falls beyond the support can offer you.
Also we’re aware of the piracy in our days and this is not realy a situation we can handle it. There is a big difference between using a pirated version and a premium version which allow you to have unlimited updates and support for differents bugs which may appear from a considerable number of reasons.
I am not saying that that the plugin’s author wrote the plugin in a wrong way. I am saying that the theme’s code and the plugin’s code must be updated such that one piece to be compatible whit the other. This situations happens because every author have its own way to code and it’s almost impossible to write a code for such a huge project, as Newsmag theme, and be compatible with any plugin written by a different author.
If you are unsatisfied with the theme we provided or it’s features, or the support, or if you need extra features for your project that our theme cannot provide, you can request a refund at evnato and we will agree with it.
Thanks!
