Big Grid 4 not loading responsive images

For some reason Big Grid 4 loads the full size article images, rather than the thumbnails which we generate for the block sizes.

As a result the images in blocks have white bars below them and the page load is significantly heavier, loading assets which are 8x the size.

Is this a known issue? Is there any way to force the theme to check and use the correct images?

Usually problem if the block dimensions are larger than image being uploaded as WP cannot ‘enlarge’ thumbs without help of plugin. Might not be your issue, but this is the most common one.

Altering the page source using the inspector I can see that the correct images more than fill the blocks.

If I disable the thumbnail size through the theme panel then it displays the warning to enable the image size in the specified block. All other blocks display their correct image sizes, just not Big Grid 4.
