how can i exclude the featured category from related articles under the posts and show only posts from another marked category?

Unfortunately, our theme does not have such a simple option to exclude as you want. This is the functionality for this kind of feature and to change it is not a simple task. To change this, is required custom work and also, it is necessary to have a good knowledge for hard-coding (PHP, HTML, JavaScript). If you want to display more levels in our theme and you are not aware the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to do this for you because we cannot provide custom services at the moment, sorry!

I need to limit the categories which are being displayed as related, too! An option in the theme panel would be wunderful!

I think that it is not a simple task to implement it and because this is a general setting, I guess that this is not a priority for our theme. I have added to our list of improvements and if we will find some solution for implementing it we will consider in following updates.
