Sidebar on Default Template Not Working

When selecting the ‘Default Template’ for my page, I have used the Visual Composer to include a sidebar however the left column spans the full width and the column content flows beneath all that. However, if I select either of the other two templates ‘Pagebuilder + Page Title’ or ‘Pagebuilder + Latest Articles + Pagination’, the sidebar holds its place. Anyone have any idea of what is going on or what I might be doing wrong?

Also, I am having this same issue with the category pages.

It looks like the 66.66666667% width is being overridden by the following for whatever reason:

.vc_column_container {
width: 100%;
}

After more troubleshooting, it looks like the child theme is causing problems.

Hello aro_007,

Our default template does not support the sidebar as default. If you want to use this feature for this kind of template for pages, you have to set it by using Visual Composer with Widgetised Sidebar, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/fafYpUrr7i
For more information about our templates, please consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-templates-2/

Thank you for the message!

Hi Catalin,

Yes how you’re describing is exactly how I have it set up. If I have the child theme activated, even if I haven’t updated any files in the child theme, the content on the left spans the full width and the Widgetised Sidebar (via Visual Composer) shifts below. If I just deactivate the child theme, the Widgetised Sidebar (via Visual Composer) fills in the correct place.

I did a reset on my WordPress build and no longer saw the issue, so I think it had something to do with the demo install I was working with before.

Hello aro_007,

Please try to update your child theme that comes bundled with the theme’s update folder and try to reconfigure it in the latest version of child theme, otherwise, the old child theme version could create some errors like in this case.

Thank you for the message!

Hi,

Yes as I said before that is the child theme I used. I bought and downloaded the theme like 3 days ago and used the child theme included in those files.

Hi, I’m having the same issue, I too have a child theme. Glad to hear that you were able to solve it, there’s hope for me as well. Can you explain what you mean by “reset on WordPress build”?

Hello @aro_007, @sushilk,

Please ensure that you do not have any additional customizations in your child theme which may affect the theme behaviour and also, please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme. Since the error is encountered only in your child theme and in the main theme everything works as expected, it means that the child theme (the customizations of this files) is the culprit. I have tested on my side using a default child theme and everything seems to work as expected.
If you try my advice and then your problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so I can further inspect you setup page. Also, please provide the link of this topic so I can know who you are and what the issue is.

Thank you for the message!
