Hi, After updating from v4 to v6 i noticed that the images in the posts with a hyperlink doesn’t open the link anymore. Instead of that there is a popup with the message ‘cant open image2’
When i edit the code and remove the following class
wp-image-51602
from the source / html code, the hyperlink works correct.
You can see an example over here.
Just click on this image to see the result:
![]()
How to solve this?
Thanks in advance!
JB
Hello,
This is a known issue with our modal image/lightbox. It will not work if you use an external link to your images. We are currently working on a fix for this and in a future version of the theme we will implement an option for external links to work with the lightbox. Until then you can turn off the lightbox if you want or use a plugin like WP Lightbox 2
Thanks.
Hi. I have images Link To Media File. They are not featured. How to make them appear in lightbox as in newsmag demo ? Update : I found: enable GENERAL MODAL IMAGE.
but… what SEO effect has if I have enabled this or not ? The same ? Images are affected on posts, or something ? Better with or without lightbox ?

Hello,
As far as we know. the modal image does not affect the SEO negatively. If you have Google Webmaster Tools set up, use the Fetch as Google tool under Crawl in the sidebar. This will show what Google is seeing when it crawls your webpage.
I hope this helps.
I too am hoping for a fix for this in the near future… 🙂 Like the “modal image?” dropdown having an option to exclude a particular image…
@TheMediumUTM
The modal image used to be activated on each image in particular from here: http://screencast.com/t/x29Yvu7uhjbC
We added the option to always use modal image for people who have lots and lots of images already implemented and it is a chore to activate it by hand on every image. If this is not the case for you, you can deactivate the general modal image and set it manually on every image.
Thank you!
Yes, I remember 🙂 I do appreciate that universal setting, and it saves a lot of time
Now if only we could turn it off for specific images that we want to be links, the same way that we used to have to turn it on for specific images that we wanted to be modal!
Hi,
Unfortunately the option only activates it for ALL images. In order to have it off on some of the images, then you need to disable the general modal image, as this option will override the image setting. The only way in which you can do this is to turn it “on” for specific images unfortunately.
We are planing to improve this feature though and hopefully in a future version this will not be a problem anymore.
Thank you for your understanding.
I understand. Looking forward to that hypothetical fix. Thanks! 🙂
