If you want to make some custom modifications you have to alter the core file where are created the functionalities of search icon. The file that you will change is header-menu.php, like this http://screencast.com/t/5LPpeC7bkO16
If you want to display more levels in our theme and you are not aware the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to implement this for you in our theme because we cannot provide custom services at the moment, sorry!

So if I understand right, you are saying that you include a conspicuous visual element in the header of the theme, that incites you to click on it to perform a search, and it is not only not linked to a search box/page/somenthig similar, but that to link it to a custom search page I have to either have coding knowledge (let me remind you of the “NO CODING REQUIRED” header on your themeforest.net product page) or hire someone who does? I think this is a bit too much…
Let’s say I modified theme. What’s going to happen each time I update? As I understand it, i’ll have to do it all over again?

Please understand that the “no coding required” is meant for the default state of the theme. Like you see it here on the demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/ and the options you can find in the theme panel and that are explained in the documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/wordpress-information/
Our theme has no such option you require. The search icon links to the search page. If you want to change this behavior you will have to either use code or use plugins to create redirects. This is not a feature of the theme.

Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn if you use it. Then check the search again. It should work as expected now. (plugin conflicts are the number one reason for such issues. You can always test the default behavior of the theme here: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/

Seriously? ALL my plugins?
I have installed the Chorme Cast extention, which got rid of all the jscript errors on the console. I don’t thinks that’s the issue.
This is a production site, I am not willing to take all the plugins offline to try your solution. To be honest, I’ll forgo having a link to a search page. But I’m not too happy about it.

The point is to find the conflicting plugin. That is why I suggested you to disable all plugins. Not forever…just to test and see which plugin causes the conflict by removing all of them and then activating them one by one until you see the problem again and then simply remove/replace the one that is causing problems.
