Hello.
I did set the CATEGORY TOP POSTS STYLE to Grid2 and saved settings. Switching to preview, everything looks as expected. As soon as I log out and view it again, the settings are lost. If I log in again, the settings are active and shown as expected.
Some other settings don’t become active after saving. After each modification I have to log out to be able to check the layout. The behaviour is browser independant, so I suppose my understanding of the Newspaper 6 configuration must be poor …

If you have issues with php.ini, please contact your hosting provider and let them know what you are trying to do so they can point you to the correct file.
