how to hide specific post category from home page latest post section.?

Find the ID for the category then add that as an exception to the module for latest posts.
E.g., if books were category ID 7, you might do -7 (this might have changed in latest version of the theme, but that was how i did it — couple versions behind).
You can get the category ID by hovering over the edit button in the WP admin > posts > categories menu. Cat ID really should be one of the columns there, and I’ve asked WP for that going on 10 years now (SIGH). I think there is a plugin for that now.
