Just noticed after about 18 months (lol) that my URL for my home page (https://unplug.tips/) is different in the Yoast snippet editor, I’ve tried to change it but it keeps reappearing as unplug.tips/example-post/
I’ve been through all the Yoast settings, refreshed the permalinks, made a new home page to test and that adds the same /emaple-post/ text to the end of the URL in Yoast.
Let me know what I’ve done wrong please I’m lost and have spent the afternoon searching the forum to no avail

If you’re using a static page, Yoast doesn’t “know” that is actually your home page while editing and so the URL shown is “the actual URL” which is the name of the “page” you created.
However, Yoast doesn’t control THAT URL, WordPress does when setting the static page as your home page.
SO, you only have to worry about the other blocks on the static page which actually get “printed” in the meta data.
Good idea to learn to look at “page source” for your home page in browser to SEE what is actually being printed on the live page in the “actual” HTML.

I’ve got 4 sites that run this theme, I’ve checked 3 of them and they are the same, ones down at the moment with ssl issues but I digress. I’ve got perhaps another 10 sites and none of them display this behaviour, only the 3 I have on this theme….
All my other sites just have their normal URL with a trailing slash in the Snippet editor so it must be something to do with how I have the thing configured?
I’m at a loss….

PS, an update of Yoast came out about 30 seconds ago, upgraded that and voila!!!!!! Back to normal 🙂 \o/ \o/ \o/
Heh. There were a lot of bug fixes in the new Yoast 3.1, so there you go.
Well, I’m just pleased it’s resolved.
I never post on here without thoroughly investigating things for myself first so I’m very grateful for all your help Chris. You’ve answered most of my more technical question on here over the last year or so and my site is a lot better off for receiving your very thorough advice, for that I can only thank you once again 🙂

I have *not* had time to mess with the FB plugin as I’ve been embroiled mentally in working with something for our main business site using a custom theme setup, and integrating the YOURLS plugin with our system, the XT breadcrumbs plugin (which works better for us since the install is inside of a directory), and helping to debug some issues with the new AMP plugin from Automattic (one of my bug reports will likely be in the next update, which is the bug of not working when the wp-content directory is renamed). SO, been having to deal with all of *that* and this particular project doesn’t use any comments at all and never will, so….
I will circle back around to that eventually, but the AMP support has been far more important than comments right now on our main news sites, since Google rolled that out on Feb. 24. (See my other ‘thread of doom’ on that!)

If you have a news portal, it’s worth it to start using AMP now, as some places on mobile in the Googleverse, ONLY the AMP-ready content might be shown.
Even if 20% of your content fails validation, that’s still 80% that does.
