Child theme not working!

Okay, so I don’t know if I’m being a complete ignorant about this but its my first time creating a child theme. Anyways, if I’m getting it right all I have to do to install the child theme is to put the Newsmag-child folder inside the Newsmag theme, and that folder is already provided in the files (and I don’t need to overwrite file since I won’t be customizing them) so all I have to do is to actually copy that (with only those 2 files inside) inside the parent, then install the theme and that’ll do it. I put a screenshot inside the child folder to know if it is working but right now testing it, it seems exactly the same as if I’m running the parent theme.

Can anyone help me to figure this out? Or to clarify me if I really need a child theme if I’m not willing to mess with the core code, or if I’m just going to add just a few CSS lines?

Hi

The child theme install process it’s the same as for any theme. It can be installed vie WordPress or simply upload it via ftp in /themes folder: http://screencast.com/t/IxtnJmkPAH81 For more details about child heme usage please check our documentation here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-child-theme-support/ and also WordPress official documentation might help: https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

Thanks!

Thank you, Andrei.
The thing was that I had never installed a child themre, therefore didn’t know where to put it. But that solved my issue, I was putting the child theme inside the parent folder. Thanks again.
