I’ve altered the /public_html/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/modules/td_module_single.php
Can I use this file in a child theme without issues?

Yes it works. You can use modules in the child theme. Just make sure you create the specific path for your file as shown in our tutorial here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
