I have added below code in Newspaper/includes/modules/td_module_8.php hard coded the excerpts length in Newspaper/includes/td_config.php and works as expected

I Think only problem without activation key is the slider templates, if that is provided then probably won’t have any issue. Please let us know how we can get the free templates because without key we can’t install from ThemePunch?

Overall background color can be changed from Theme Panel -> Theme Colors -> General Theme Colors. But not sure if you mean single page background, that might require edit in the theme code.

It is the gradient if I am not wrong, initially I thought color overlay.
