I updated the new newspaper theme and it broke my website. I cannot even log in to the dashboard to deactivate it. Any advice on how I deactivate this and get into my dashboard?

My advice is to make a new clean install from scratch with the latest version of the theme. You should re-download the latest version of the theme which is now available on Theme Forest and install it via FTP way because this is the surest method in this regard.
