Sorry to mention here but I was using version 7.5 and had google pagespeed in green at some 82 points but after upgrading to 7.6.1 it plummeted to red around 52. Upgraded the plugins, deleted cache, etc.. no improvement. I can’t figure out what could help. Pl let me know. Rest is fine so far. Thanks.

Thats interesting,

My site speed is very low for version 7.5 at mobile 43/100 desktop 59/100 so i dont really want to upgrade to 7.6.1

Bit of a dilema

Hi,

@Mayapur Voice I guess your site was fully optimized. Which are google’s notifications that affect your speed.
Please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide more details and your site url. What is interesting that we did not made and code changes in latest version 7.6.1 beside the login reported issue regarding browser not secure, no other changes.

@AdamAL
Replied to your topic. Your site is not optimized.

@noonoo1
You can make a full backup before the update and see how it goes using the latest theme version – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups Like I said above 7.6.1 release was just a fix for sign in widget reported not secure error and nothing else.

Thanks!

Thanks Alin for the comment. Note that I upgraded from 7.5 to 7.6.1 so there may be some other reasons.

But there are chances that some third party plugin update may have caused the problem and I may not have noted it immediately after updating that plugin. I am observing the result by tweaking different things and if nothing helps, I will contact you at the email address you provided. Thanks again. BTW, the URL is http://mayapurvoice.com/svagatam

Hello Mayapur Voice,

I have checked your website on Google Page Speed and I saw that you bad page speed comes from your backend because it is not fully optimized as expected, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/1EoBquwsIH Please carefully read and apply all the steps from our guide here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ You can begin with optimizing your images using our method which is available in this guide.
I have inspected your source page and I saw that your render blocking are not moved in the footer, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/oMU9599X

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello Catalin, thanks for taking time to inspect the site. I am glad to let you know that I have already located the issue and solved the problem. http://mayapurvoice is back in green at 87 points and the result looks beautiful 🙂

My guess is, the Visual Composer plugin update that came with Newspaper 7.6.1 or earlier (after 7.5) caused the problem. I upgraded from 7.5 so it could be even earlier update of the plugin that I did not use. The reason I suggest this is, after trying so many different things finally the speed went up considerably only when I removed one VC element (Post grid with 4 posts showing some animation effects) from the page. This element was there since long when the page speed was in green. I suspect that something in the updated VC plugin might be causing the issue. As soon I removed that element my page speed went up. So I think it was not Newspaper theme but the upgraded version of VC plugin that had caused our page speed to drop. If you have some other insight I would like to know. I will also keep in mind what you suggested above. Thanks again.

Hi,

Could you let me know where this file was located as i would like to remove it also.

Thanks in advance

It is not a file. It seems to have been a simple block added on the page with some animation. You probably do not have an exact same element. Page speed is a very personal thing and depends on how you have your site set up. Please use this guide to increase your loading speed: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

Thank you!

As Bogdon said, it’s not a file but a bunch of codes placed by VC plugin on the home page based on my design. You may not be using what I did. But if you suspect similar issue in your case then what you could do is create a copy of your home page, remove some elements (blocks) one after another and check the page speed of that newly created copy of the home page (Google pagespeed looks at page, not the whole website). If you find that removing a particular element increases the speed, you may want to remove it from your original home page and it might help. In our case I guess I can still fine tune more and get a better score but I am satisfied with 88/81 for Desktop/Mobile. https://gyazo.com/567702203d4cf47719c560e699c3d19c And this is without Cloud flare. Hope this helps.
