Likely need to edit the header files. It doesn’t hurt anything in modern semantic markup, as the header area is separate from the article/main area of the document. An H1 in the header only indicates that is the primary element in the header vs any other graphics, text, menus, etc. as the primary object.
Hello debarup,
If you want to turn off the H1 tag for your logo, please notice that you will have to do it only from the code source. Please try to comment it out this snippet of the code from the logo-text.php core file like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/stVIFZJNO Please notice that this feature has been designed for the better result in SEO.
I hope this helps!
Thanks for your understanding!
This is very frustrating, I have comment out the code, but no change still it is taking the logo as H1. 2ndly primarily when I didn’t give any text as H1, it is showing 2 H1 with my mozilla SEO tool called “SEO Doctor”. Now I have given H1 to a text in home page, so right now it is showing 3 H1.
I can find one H1 tag for logo and another for the new text, 3rd one is invisible.
Can you please help.
I don’t want logo to be a h1.
2ndly I want only one H1 for every page.

Hi Catalin,
Thanks for the link and reference. But as I know a web page should have only one H1 tag, as for the H1 in the logo, in post section it is showing 2 H1 tags which I don’t want.

as well as for the home page also.
can you please help!? I just don’t need one extra h1 for any pages.
Thanks & Regards
Debarup
View your actual page source to see where extra H1 tag is.
Normally this will be added automatically as the title headline for a post; so you don’t want to add another one yourself. This title/headline should match the meta data for title and the permalink for SEO.
When you view your page source where is the “extra h1” coming from?
Don’t rely on page scanners to be accurate — LOOK to see yourself what is actually ON your page.
Hello,
If you want to remove the h1 from the logo, you can simply edit the theme files like so: http://www.screencast.com/t/HkuuAayUyX4U and then there will be no more h1 on the logo.
We added this option as most users do not use a title on pages and they needed a h1 on pages but without adding a title.
Thank you!
