When will you remove H1 from Logo – BIG SEO MISTAKE?

Hey,

The theme is great, but the only problem is the h1 where the logo is – which is a huge SEO mistake to have it on every page. Please remove it, change it with h2 or h3 or just a span. The H1 for each page/article should be the title of the page. I got a website, where I cannot each page h1.

Google looks at h1 tags as clues to what the page’s content is about. If you have multiple h1 tags with different keywords then it is difficult for Google to contextualize the page.

I hope you will update this on the next update!

Hello pavel,

If you want to change the H1 for the logo you should check the following topic here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/h1-in-the-logo-newspaper-7/ and edit the theme core files where the H1 is created for the logo. Also, please notice that we have implemented the H1 tag for the logo because this is very useful for Seo and not a Big Mistake as you said above, sorry! If you check the website fo Seo Yoast plugin (which is the best Seo plugin) you will see the H1 tag for a logo ->this is not a big mistake for SEO, right? :)). -> https://www.screencast.com/t/31dpfwmV

Thanks for your understanding!

Right, but to change these files is a nightmare – with every new update I have to change them again. Google recommends only one H1 per page.

Your statement regarding multiple h1’s is wrong. Here is official Google stand on it from YOAST website, there’s also a video about it:
https://yoast.com/headings-use/

“The most important tag is the <h1> heading tag, and will usually be the title of a post.” – YOAST says in the article. The Logo is not the title of the page on our sites. Even Matt Cuts recomments 1 h1 per page, and he is the head of GOOGLE SEO.

Please make it a checkbox, or an option in the next update. It’s frustrating and my clients are all complaining about it – as we don’t follow the right SEO rules.

Best Regards,

It seem logo-text.php is changed and modification code must be another…

Thanks

Just my two cents being a dinosaur around here:
(Sidebar: Matt Cutts no longer works at Google, as FYI, and has actually been on leave for couple of years.)

Actually more than one H1 tag is allowable as it’s only a semantic guideline. So inside a <header> section of markup you can have an H1 tag related to the “header” of a web document. Then within the <article> section of your content you can have an H1 tag for the page content/text.

For “SEO” Google actually “combines” your “title tag” with your H1 tag inside the <article> section(s) to determine the most appropriate “title element” for your specific page. They actually ignore the H1 on the logo as an alt/fallback in relation to the article/main content section; only used for semantic “importance” vs other brands/titles/names on the page contextually.

So, per Google your meta “title” and main H1 “title” on the page should be the same, roughly, and ideally your permalink structure should have the main words from that same page title.

Still, some folks get bee in their bonnet about semantic markup, screen readers, compliance issues, and general usability (UX) matters. If you don’t know what the <header> and <article> sections do in modern markup, you probably need to look into that.

Or, simply remove the H1 markup for the <header> for this and other themes you may use, if it really truly bothers you. It’s not going to ruin your placement in SERPS, put another way. Original content is still more important than this issue, the way Google looks at things.

It has not hurt our SERPS the past many years one wit. But we originate all our content and don’t copy/paste from other sources.
