hi ive updated newspaper to v8 but i cannot see the visual composer button to edit my frontpage any longer and no tagdiv composer button?

Please make sure that the plugins are activated in the plugins section. They should appear in the page edit screen. You could try as a test to disable all your other plugins except the composers, clear any caching installed and check again. If nothing works you could try a fresh theme install using this method

When i deactivated the tagdiv composer and emptied the cache the visual composer is viewable/active again, but when i activate the tagdiv composer again ,then the visual composer disappears?

It should not disappear just by having them both active. I cannot replicate this problem, both the composers are displayed properly when active

It could be a conflict with another plugin that you might have. You could try disabling them all except the two composers and check again.
