I use cloudinary to host all my images. So when it comes to smart list, the following pattern was followed
<h3>Title<h3>
(img src=”link to image in cloudinary” )
<AD>
description
However with the above pattern, the newspaper theme could not identify the image. So the advertisement is coming above image instead of below image. The pattern being rendered is as following:
<h3>Title<h3>
<AD>
image + description
Kindly help me resolve this issue as I am looking forward to using the first pattern for all my articles.

Article ads will not be displayed in smart lists in posts. These posts are treated differently then normal posts, article top, inline and bottom ads will be excluded.
In some smart list templates you can set an ad to be displayed that is supported
