Hi. I would like to know if it is possible to embed a local (the file placed on local server, or any other server for that matter) video file with video post styles that Newspaper has. Basically I want to show my own videos (.mp4 or other format), not the ones from Youtube, Facebook, or other sources. I want to upload them to my own server (where wordpress is) and make them work with Newspaper. Is that possible and how do I do that?
Did anyone had any experience with this?
Cheers.
Hello MamasLT,
It is possible to embed a video in your post content for example. You simply copy and paste the URL video where exactly you want to have it and the theme will render it. Do you have tried it?
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi! Yes, I understand that there is a native wp video embed feature, but I would like to use the themes’ video styles, and place a video in a same beautiful spots where the “featured video” from youtube would be.
Would there be a way to do that?
Thanks!

Hello MamasLT,
Sorry but please notice that our theme has the simple video embed functionality implemented in this case. If you want to have any other functionality regarding on our video styles you should implement it yourself because we cannot provide any custom service at the moment, sorry!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi MamasLT,
Yes, for example, if you want to add a Facebook Video inside your post, you simply do these steps -> https://www.screencast.com/t/UXNyFdBJ
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your understanding!
It’s some sort of misunderstanding happening.
I know how to embed video in a simple post templates – I just add Media, and upload the video to the server, and it works. BUT, I want to add LOCAL video to the VIDEO POST TEMPLATES, so the video would be at the FEATURED VIDEO location, of those post templates.
“Featured Video
Featured Video will work only if you are using Video Format.
To set a Featured Video for your post just place your Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion or Facebook video link in the required featured video post box.
Video Format is perfect if you have a video and you want to show it in the beginning of your post.
On pages, the video preview displayed will be generated automatically. After you update the post you can see the generated preview image in the Featured Image post box.
Note: You should use Featured Video only on:
Post Style Default
Post Style 1
Post Style 2
Post Style 9
Post Style 10
Post Style 11”
So the WORDPRESS does support local video embed. The THEME does not, because when I enter the URL of local video, it shows nothing at the featured video place of the video post theme.
Hello MamasLT,
You should send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect it closer your setup page and also, so I will be able to inspect this Feature Video functionality, so I will be able to provide a more accurate response. RPvoide there the link to this topic so we can quickly identify you. Before sending us this email, please make sure that you are not using such an untested plugins because all of them might interact with the theme core files and cause a lot of unknown issues.
Thanks for the message!
Hi there.
Unfortunately I cannot provide the login details at this point, due to the fact that this project is very delicate.
But maybe these images will help you understand what I am talking about.
This is the simple Embed that I can do native with wordpress by adding media to post, uploading video file to my uploads (through media tab):
https://s26.postimg.org/anonpkn1l/embed1.jpg
This is the Post Template 11, with Youtube video added to featured Video:
https://s26.postimg.org/eg865b2jt/embed2.jpg
The question is/was, is it possible in some way to use LOCALLY hosted video file the same way as this Youtube video is used with Post Template 11 (video templates)?
I just want to see my local video in the same spot where this Youtube video is within that Newspaper theme Post Template 11 style (or any other video style for that matter).
Thanks
You can have featured videos by using this:
1. Install this plugin: Featured Video Plus
2. Customize the plugin settings (width and height, loop, autoplay, etc)
3. Modify the article template file (I have used single_template_6.php for this example)
4. Add this code at the top of the page
$featured_video_plus = new featured_video_plus($post);
(for this example I added the code below this line: $td_mod_single = new td_module_single($post); )
5. Find the code for the featured image: https://pastebin.com/igSnQQA3
6. Replace the image code with this: https://pastebin.com/gUg7ryi9
7. Upload your video on your site and place the link in the plugin section of the article. You don’t need to use the video mode of the post. You can also add featured image to the article but as long as a video is added, the image will not be visible.
8. Customize the aspect of the video using css/js

JEEZ THIS IS INSANE..!!!
I have to say that this is just lot of faffing around for something which should be a really simple process.
I am having the same kind of issue trying to get an answer with wanting to use embed iframe code for placing youtube video in featured video on Newspaper video templates, instead of the plain video link url, because I don’t want to display the video title and suggested videos at the end of the video.
For such a great theme, you would have though that not only would Tagdiv have included the option to place the raw video link url in the featured video section, but also the option to place ’embed code’ for youtube, fb,vimeo etc… or LOCAL video link.
Pardon my langauge, as I am about to use some bad ones….. 🙂
But how fucking hard can that be…seriously??!! It is very frustrating as I have been also trying to get an answer to this for 4 days now and I no closer to finding an answer than I was 4 fuking days ago….
C’MON TAGDIV… W H A T – T H E – F U C K!!!!!!
The fact that there does not appear to be a solid solution, just a load of fucking around with people suggesting plugins (that don’t work) or changing something through http://ftp.. or doing some other shit, for me… totally devalues the newspaper tagdiv theme, to a point I am seriously thinking of ditching it all together, asking for a refund and switching to another theme that supports using embed video code.
TAGDIV….Your providing and selling the theme with video functionality and include video templates within the theme, so why not include the functionality to embed video code..??!! IT’S A FUCKING NO BRAINER TO ME…
TAGDIV… you’re letting the team down…
With love…
Rhys Morton-Ross – A very disgruntled and fucked off customer.
SHAPE UP OR SHIP THE FUCK OUT TAGDIV 😉
Hello InspireORB,
I feel sorry if you are not satisfied with our theme but please notice that our product does not have any such an option that allows you to add a local video to be featured video, sorry! Please understand that many of users find to use only online video or find to load own video on a server because the videos take up quite a lot of space on a hard drive, sorry! If you will check the above replies, you can see a possible workaround, in this case, provided by @vlad1984. Also, please notice that you can make some useful setting directly from YouTube when the embedded iframe is generated to exclude some parameters from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/OMI5yTon3d -> https://www.screencast.com/t/VcDJ0N56
However, if you are still not satisfied with our theme, please request a full refund from here -> https://themeforest.net/refund_requests/new and we will get your money back, as soon as possible.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hey Catalin..
I feel you are really missing one of the salient points in my reply…
Not only do you not allow LOCAL video use in the featured video section, iframe embed code, does not work at all? I have addressed this in another thread by Akaii… https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/video-format-embed-instead-of-link/
NO disrespect to @Vlad1984 but that is not a good solution, just a load of wasted time doing something that shouldn’t have to be done, especially if you are making multiple posts a day and also have guest contributors. I do not have that time to waste!
You say you can use iframe embed code, and I am saying you can’t, not in the featured video section.
Here is the reply I left on another thread which explains and shows that using iframe embed code in the featured video field, using a video theme template, just doesn’t work.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hey Catalin…
Using the embed iframe code does not work on any videos I try and use, believe me I have tried many times as most of my posts are either youtube or vimeo videos.
When you say…”video does not work because it’s broken or it’s private and cannot be viewed but only if you will be logged in”
Firstly they are not broken or private, because when I add the iframe embed code into the post text field, it works fine. See here.. http://www.inspireorb.com/you-create-your-reality/ – and what has being logged in got to do with anything… logged into what exactly.. but that aside…
…Here you can see i have used the embed code in the featured video and in the text section. Also video theme template 9 is in use.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0Gk1ZDZ_J2uVENOQk0xUVV2MUU/view?usp=sharing
So what do you have to say to this…?
Surely if the iframe embed code works ok in the post text field, why is it not working in the featured video section with your video templates?
Hi. It’s good to see that others also need similar functionality. It is obvious that in the future more and more people will be hosting videos on their own servers, for simple reason – Youtube is an enemy of a free speech.
This simple implementation, allowing to use Video Post Templates with local video files, would really be great.
Thank you.
I love this team soo much for the beautiful design the only let down is lack of youtube API which will solve the issue of the embedded video issues and the related video pop at the end of play (the same way you did for the weather API).I dumped my previous THEME (VIDEO THEME) which did that perfectly for the beautiful design you provide. Please if theres anything you can do to resolve this, pls do as most of us will even pay for a pluggin to resolve that. Also you may consider in the future to include a popup to share video at the end of video played and submit video link from user instead of the suggested videos from youtube. Thank you from a concern customer with love.
Hello print024,
Please make sure that you have installed the latest theme version from Theme Forest via FTP way because this is the surest theme method in this case. We do not have any bad reports regarding on API YouTube and weather widget. All of these should work as expected in the latest version. Clear all the caches and check the results. You can provide your website URL for more investigations if the problem will be there after this advice.
