Can't get "popular last 7 days" filter to work

Hi,

I had a block on the front page set up to display based on the Popular – Jetpack option for a while and really liked it. Then I had to deactivate Jetpack when I discovered it was causing my site-side SEO to tank. Since then I’ve tried to get the block to filter using the “popular last 7 days theme filter” filter to work but I can’t seem to get it to. I’ve tried with the Ajax post view feature off and on but that doesn’t help. I’m sure I’m missing something – please help!

The site URL is newsgrowl.com

Thanks

Hi,

As long as the option is enabled in the theme panel, and the post views are active, there would be no problem. I activated the option in the theme panel, then configured a block with the 7 days popular sorting

Now, as posts gather views they will be displayed in the block (according to your category filter)

An important note which is also mentioned in the guide would be that this form of sorting will not work with any caching

Okay, I think I understand. If I set this up it will initially register no posts as most popular, but over time as people view posts the block will populate.

I do have caching on, so this may not be relevant. What do I do with caching? I turned on the Ajax option (which says it is for caching) and left it for a few days. The counter basically stopped working and stayed at 1 no matter how many people visited the page.

Thank you!

Maybe you did not clear the cache after enabling the setting

Clear the cache and monitor the situation. The counts should be accurate after enabling the setting and clearing all caching.
