HOW TO USE FIRST POST IMAGE OR ANY OTHER IN POST AS THUMBNAIL

Please, our site has over 10,000 articles without featured images but there are images inside the posts and we just switched to Newsmag but we are finding it difficult to use the first image in the post as thumbnail because our existing theme supports that. Please, how can we solve this?

I had the same issue and used the plugin QUICK FEATURED IMAGES PRO and it worked brilliantly. You need the PRO version which has a small fee but well worth it.

If you simply copy the images you have to “featured” then you end up with two identical images on the post page but this plugin gives the option to remove the image from the post content but keep it as “featured” and that works really well.

Ran it against 3,000 posts and it takes a time to set itself up (be patient – it will get there) but worked very well.

I use Auto Post Thumbnail Pro for several years for same purpose.

I just used that Auto Post Thumbnail and it messed up all my posts. Now all my posts have two images inside the posts. Please, what can I do?

Choose default template with no featured image for your old posts.

Or:
Delete the image folder from using that, and then re-upload your old image folder. You did make a backup right?

And yes, if you want ‘featured images’ including in your post, you need to set your default template in theme to use one without a featured image.

If you use a template that puts a featured image in post for you, then create featured images, then of course you will have image twice in post; once for the original image and once for the featured image.

So, just choose default template which does not use featured image for all old posts.

Hi,

Without a featured image, the theme will not be able to create thumbnails. For the best results the posts need to have featured images set
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/

If for some reason you cannot set featured images for all posts, you could try some plugins, like the ones mentioned above. Maybe they will work, we haven’t tested any however.

Hi,

Here is talking about two different modules which use two different sizes of the image and that’s why if you will zoom in you will see a different quality of the featured image.

Thanks.
