I’m getting the following error messages on the homepage of my website. But it does not happen on the category pages or the post pages.

Please check if the WP-debug is set to false in the WP-config file, then check if the warnings are removed

I’ve check the requirements and all is good.
However, I realized that I have version 6.5 on my site.
I tried a couple of hours ago to upgrade to v9 by removing the theme from the website and uploading and activating the latest version, but then I could only see the header and under it fatal error message.

Newspaper 6.5 is a very old theme, and I think the best way will be to make a new ( fresh install not update) and import all post using a plugin.
Form Newspaper 6.5 to 9.5 is like you are using a other theme, here you can check the news that get the theme since the 6.5 -> https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
