AdSense, Smart Lists, and Gutenberg …or Gutenberries as I like to call it?‍♀

Has anyone with years of Newspaper theme usage ever done a check to see which post formats produce the most amount of AdSense views?

It would appear that “Smart List 6, 7, or 8” would be the best options for displaying AdSense ads. However, this leaves me with a few questions:

  1. In this article about Smart Lists, we learn about how to make the smart lists. Rock on, right? However, once the Gutenberries are turned on, how do we then insert the smart list breaks that are necessary once the TinyMCE editor is no longer available as seen in THIS image?Newspaper Theme Smart Lists
  2. Has anyone else ran into the problem where a few of these Smart List options are simply appearing as duplicates? There’s 6 boxes which appear to be “blank”, so are there options which I’m missing? Here’s a screenshot of what I am seeing: Newspaper Theme Smart List Options Not Appearing
  3. I’m a fan of reading docs, but I’m never immune to understanding that I might be missing something. However… This theme had all sorts of awesome shortcodes that were promoted and featured when I bought the theme. Obviously, access to those shortcodes is gone after the Gutenberries came along. I’ve already made about 50+ articles with the Gutenberries editor. So, how does one access those “shortcode” only features in a post-Gutenberries WordPress site?

Thanks for the help!

P.S. Other than the questions listed above, does anyone have any tips or best practices from folks who have been using this theme for at least a couple of years?

Hi,

I have made some texts on my website and the SmartList seems to works as expected. Also, the Smart List templates are working good. I have added the [td_smart_list_end] shortcode and it seems to return good results. The functionality of it is to interrupt the smart list functionality after their position. Also, if you have created another Smart List template, all of these will be displayed at the post template section and not on the Smart list, as you can see here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/6HByj7b8 Please check your theme and WordPress version to be the latest version of theme, remove all of untested plugins, clear all the caches, purge CDN files and check the results. If the problem is still there, please provide more details and some useful screenshots with the problem so we can identify.

Thank you!

……..in other words:
How does one get to the Shortcodes in a post Gutenberg world?
And, why is there no page in the docs that lists out all the shortcodes?

Hi,

Thank you for your video! I have seen it and it also seems like you have an old theme version and that’s why you do not bring good results. Please make a full backup to your database and then update the theme to the latest version of it, together with plugins and check the results. So, if the problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) and CPanel access so we can take a closer look at your setup page. Also, we need these details so we can begin some deeper investigations.

I look forward to helping you!

Thank you for the message!

Why isn’t there a page in the docs which states all the shortcodes?
In a post Gutenberg world, we need to enter shortcodes manually into each post. Especially in “Smart Lists”!
There is no longer a ‘visual button’ in Gutenberg NOR is there any doc page telling the end user what all of the shortcodes are either.

So, we end-users have ZERO way to enter shortcodes anymore – we can NOT enter the shortcodes via the Gutenberg editor, nor can we manually type out the shortcodes because we do NOT know what all those shortcodes are either.

Can you please add those old shortcode parameters into blocks OR at minimum, please list out somewhere in the docs what all the shortcodes are?
