Is there a way to change the titles of the predefined footer content or take a copy of the theme file necessary and place in my child theme instead?
Or how do I build the same thing as a page and link to from the theme options – there is no ‘popular posts’ WYSIWYG block? and the client wants one of the ‘popular category’ items removed from the list too?

You will have to create a footer from the cloud library which is fully editable using the tagDiv Composer as you can see it here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/

Thanks, I tried but the tagDiv composer does not let me add the same elements as in the template ‘style 1’.

The footer style 1 can be found in -> wp-content/plugins/td-standard-pack/Newspaper/parts/footer/td_footer_template_1.php also the page can be make with tagDiv Composer or you can get it from cloud library -> http://prntscr.com/q65ibt -> https://i.imgur.com/fG98isK.png
