I would like to create a new filter/sort order that does not use modified date but instead date published as a the sorting mechanism in one of my block elements, how do i go about doing that?

I mean at this point I just want a list that sorts by newest submission by date, I can not imagine that I am the first to need this, you must have something off the shelf or be able to point me in the direction of where I can do this by myself
