Font, image, and footer customization help

Hello, I am having a good time with the theme so far but I’d like some help with the issues below:

  1. Custom fonts are not working and all headers on my homepage staging.almostrealthings.com are Roboto instead of selected font in the theme panel.
  2. The fonts under the “Pages” font category are not applying correctly to any of my “Text with Title” elements.
  3. The magazine spread mockup image on my homepage staging.almostrealthings.com won’t center and shrinks to 696px instead of the 1068px size that it should be on full desktop view.
  4. The footer looks perfect on all pages but the styling gets messed up on the article posts: example (magazine covers are not laid out in 4 columns, padding on the subscribe box is different, bottom black bar with copyright and menu list has weird spacing.

Thank you!

Hi,

1. Please make sure that google fonts is enable in theme panel -> https://i.imgur.com/jE7zAdD.png
2. On Text with Title you can set the style using tagDiv Composer -> https://i.imgur.com/UjYI630.jpg
3. You need to edit the page with tagDiv Composer and adjust the elements to be set on center ->https://i.imgur.com/kHcVGCs.png
4. This problem can be from WPBakery plugin is overwrite the css, what you can do is to disable it, or if you are using this plugin, you can use this custom css for this problem -> https://i.imgur.com/rBNIFi5.jpg
.td-footer-template-wrap .td-pb-row .td-pb-span3 {
width: 25%;
}

The code need to be set in theme panel > custom code> custom css.

Thank you!

Hi Calin,

  1. Google Fonts are enabled but I have a custom .woff font that worked on the old version of my site with Newspaper 8 but doesn’t work on this new version with Newspaper 10.3.3. As for the h1 through h6 header tags: they are set to Roboto even though I have Google Fonts enabled and I have changed every single font setting to Montserrat.
  2. Shouldn’t the settings in the theme panel under “theme fonts -> Pages” be applying by default to these text boxes on my pages? That’s how it worked on the old version of my Newspaper site.
  3. I have deduced that since I am using Jetpack, all images on my site are constrained to a maximum of 696px, since that is what Newspaper has defined as its column size. Is there a way to increase this value? The homepage image should be and thinks it is 1068px and centered, but when being served up by Jetpack, is only 696px and defaults to left aligned. I have all settings on this image set to center.
  4. Thank you for your help!

Hi,

1. The custom fonts are still working in Newspaper v10.3.3 pleas let me know the implementation you’ve made and some screenshots.
Also the font family will apply on h elements ->https://i.imgur.com/KAVsfeF.jpg but there are h elements that have other elements with a stronger css.
2. There are elements that can be edited from theme panel, but most of theme can be edited with tagDiv Composer and these will have individual settings for example flex blocks -> https://i.imgur.com/2EIKd02.png

3. Please check this similar topic -> Jetpack resizes my images too small, then blows them up to be seen all blurry

Thank you!

Thanks, still having issues with the footer as seen here with the copyright info and footer menu not being on the same line. This only occurs on article pages for some reason.

Also, from that Jetpack article it says this “The image CDN looks to the img element’s width and height attributes and the width of the containing element. It will then serve an image resized to the smallest dimensions. If it didn’t resize that image to something smaller, then it’s likely that the 2250 size was the smallest based on those parameters.”

So that means the theme is constraining this element. I don’t have any css constraints for the row or column or image so I am not sure why it thinks the maximum width for this element is 696px. The native image is 1100px x 557px and everything looks fine in the TDComposer but the live version continues to shrink the image. Have you run into this problem before with Jetpack on Newspaper?

Thanks

Hi Calin,

I have just transferred our website to the live version at almostrealthings.com. These are my current three issues:

  1. On article posts in the footer, the copyright text and footer menu are not aligned -> https://i.imgur.com/yry5oEG.png It looks fine on pages but is only misaligned on article posts. Maybe it has something to do with the custom code you suggested in your first reply to me?
  2. For the Jetpack issue, it is resizing the images to 696px as part of its “Site Accelerator > Speed up image load times” -> https://i.imgur.com/JPlEWnR.png It thinks the theme’s page column width is constrained to 696px and will not allow me to have full-page images, giving me this -> https://i.imgur.com/09gX8hQ.png instead of this -> https://i.imgur.com/q50fFy3.png
  3. The last issue is that the WP Editor will no longer load in TDComposer after transferring my website from my staging environment to my live site at almostrealthings.com -> https://i.imgur.com/YUZ5vrB.png I did not make any changes, I simply transferred the entire site to the live domain. Everything else works except the WP Editor.

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

1. I think that this is a plugin conflict between tagDiv Cloud Library and WPBakery, you can use only one of them, you should decide which one you want to use, we recommend to use the tagDiv Cloud Library with tagDiv Composer these are the theme plugins.
Please deactivate the WPBakery and check the results!

2. These are the options that I’ve try and for me is displaying the size that I set in tagDiv Composer, also for me the Speed up image load times is not available on localhost, please try with these settings and let me know the results.

3. Please make sure that all the settings are like in our requirements, please follow the guide carefully
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.

Make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
If there is still a problem, you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.

Thank you!

Hi,

#1 is solved! Thanks.

For #2 did you mean to attach a screenshot? I’m not sure which settings you’re talking about.

For #3, WP Editor is not working because it is making a request that my host is blocking for security reasons. I received the following message from Namecheap’s hosting support:

The issue is related to the fact that the request is being forwarded to the php file https://almostrealthings.com/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/includes/wpeditor.php?wp_path=/var/www/wptbox/ directly in the editor. Direct file execution is disabled on our side by default due to security reasons. We can enable it, but in that case the website will be more vulnerable. Please note that the direct execution can be allowed only temporarily and the setting can be reset anytime due to EasyWP architecture.

They are telling me that I will need to contact them to enable direct file execution every time I want to make an edit using the WP Editor through TDComposer. Is there anything I can do to use TDComposer without it making this request? Have you encountered this problem before?

Thanks!

Hi,

2. I think that the problem is from this option -> https://i.imgur.com/DbkUuyp.png if you disable it, then the images should look good and only the size that has the thumb that is selected.

3. Unfortunately tagDiv Composer needs to make this request, only in this way can work, sorry.

Thank you for your understanding!

Thanks Calin. It would be helpful to make a note on your website that the Newspaper theme is not compatible with Jetpack’s image processing CDN. Other users will have this same issue. Also a note that TDComposer is not compatible with Namecheap’s EasyWP dedicated WordPress hosting.

Two more issues:

1. In the element “text with title” it seems like if the title includes quotation marks (“), it will eventually delete the title and revert back to the default BLOCK TITLE text. We use quotations often in naming our magazines. Has this issue been solved before?

2. I have built out two duplicate pages: https://almostrealthings.com/spotlight is an actual WordPress page, and https://almostrealthings.com/category/spotlight is a cloud category template. The /spotlight WordPress page looks perfect but the duplicate /category/spotlight template does not follow the column formatting that I specify in TDComposer.

How it should look: https://i.imgur.com/tjIMi6c.png

How it looks currently: https://i.imgur.com/uFnOsuv.png

Why does the template lack the same formatting? How can I fix it?

Thank you for all of your help.
