Customizing Category Pages

I want to create a “category page”. With Content, like in normal “WordPress pages”.

But Before the start of article/content(~ 3k words), I need to show all posts in that “specific category”, then continue with the category description(article/content). Explaing what it is.

So, Why not create a simple page and add a column of posts above that and then continue with article?
Because I want if somebody clicks on any “category name”, the page should show all the posts column related to that category. And then explain what the category is about(that’s category content/article).

Plus I will be using menus solely based on categories/subcategories with posts inside them.

I can add content in category description (
https://prnt.sc/wi31cz) but then that content is shown on at the header part of theme. Resulting the posts in that category to be last/end.

So, How about create a page, and 301 your category pages to main page?
That I think will result in confusion for every category that’s created with issues related to breadcrumbs.

Is there any way to customize category pages: showing articles after we show the posts in that category?

Or any better way.

Let me know if I can explain any better. Thanks.

Hello!

Yes, you can create a cloud category template and you can customize it how you want.
Please note that customization is not covered by the support team: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-support/

Hello Bettina,

Thanks for your reply. I got it 😀

Right now I am struggling with understanding newspaper and their functionality itself.

I figured out, I need to pass tag_id/slug, from the URL.

Instead of exclusively mentioning the tag slug over here. https://prnt.sc/witgku

Can we somehow pass the tag id/slug from URL to here?

Like %%tag%% kinda, which I tested.. didn’t work.

Regards

What I am trying to achieve here is this: https://prnt.sc/wiu1fz

This is possible with normal WordPress themes with URL parameters such as
/?cat=1&tag=2

but in Newspaper it shows what theme is set to..

I can see the option to add tags with it… Since it cannot be exclusive to category page.. that need to be passed from URL Parameters or some other ways that you guys may know.

Thanks

Hello!

In the “Big Grid Flex” element, at that option you can add posts by category name and not an URL. It can not automatically get a tag from the URL, and you need to do it manually like in this screenshot: https://www.screencast.com/t/3PJuG6vM . Here you can see the name of slug you need to write it in the “Big Grid Flex” element and this is how it functions.
Hope that helps you!

Thank you!

That I got it, But How to show the same category page with different tag slug?

How to show different tagid/tagslug posts to the same category.
(not getting limited to one tag)

If I set the tag in Big Grid Flex to Current Category, But want it to show different tag posts of that category.

If I mention the tag name then, the posts will always be the same for that selected category & tag pages.(obviously, that’s how it is meant to be)

How can I have the same category and different tag posts be shown?

The point here is websites can have multiple tags..

Like in normal function:
/?cat=1&tag=1
This Shows Posts of Category1 and Tag1

/?cat=1&tag=2
Posts of Category1 and Tag2

If you will last chart: https://prnt.sc/wiu1fz (sorry I made it in hurry earlier)

Here is a new one with an example: null

You can see, we can have multiple categories and tags…

How to filter tags with categories? or get a URL without creating extra pages for each tag we create?
