Suddenly, your “TagDiv Composer” plugin is messing with form updates and displays in our GiveWP donation pages. This issue is not widespread outside of this Newspaper theme.
If tagDiv Composer is deactivated, the GiveWP form options appear again and work perfectly. The problem here is that the tagDiv Composer plugin is required for the Newspaper theme to work. Can you help?

Unfortunately, GiveWP donation plugin has not been tested with Newspaper Theme, therefore, we don’t know what settings need to be made for resolving the issue.

That really is not a good enough response. Until your last update, everything worked fine. Furthermore, we can’t all use the limited amount of plugins you’ve tested with the Newspaper theme.

We have the same issue as boogieboa and agree that your response is lacking. Your TagDiv Composer software is causing an issue with another plugin. The correct response is to reach out to the other developer of the other plugin and work to resolve the issue.
I completely agree with you, especially when the new update affects a premium plugin. It may well be time to switch themes. There’s always some new issue with the Newspaper theme, and them thinking they’re too big to bother.
We do too and the response from TagDiv has been outlandishly off the mark.
We raised this issue with GiveWP support on April 8 and added TagDiv support to the thread April 19 at which time GiveWP offered any assistance necessary to fix the issue with Composer. The TagDiv team decided to simply fall back to the boilerplate we pretend WordPress themes should only work with 8-10 plugins remark rather than dive in and even attempt to fix the issue.
GiveWP’s install base is likely far larger than TagDiv’s.

I took those steps, and they didn’t resolve the issue. Did you actually push out a different version to the public? It’s possible you did update the plugin and didn’t update the built on date.
I appreciate that you are actively trying to solve the issue. My web guy says he could tell right away by looking at the code it was Composer that was conflicting. He has an idea for a solution that he thought was pretty simple.

We only updated the tagDiv Composer plugin, it was reported that the problems were due to it, but for GiveWP we need more information about the problem caused and how it interacted with the theme before the update and how it works now if you could provide us with this information.
Also, if your developer thinks he has found a solution, please provide us with that information so that I can pass it to our developers to test and provide a fix for the problem.

Well, I went through the steps again and then went back to the GiveWP plugin and tried to set up a form. Sometimes some of the same issues were happening, like it wouldn’t recognize that I had selected a template. Other times it did seem to save the changes I was making. So it doesn’t seem like the conflict is completely resolved, but maybe we’re making progress! Is there a way we could loop Ben Meredith from GiveWP into this conversation, along with the web guy from my site?

Anamaria, I sent you an email at the address you provided. I also included Ben Meredith from GiveWP and Justin, my web guy. Ben has been very responsive and has replied in great detail, but he can’t go further without hearing from tagDiv. Here’s his most recent update: “Here’s what our development team found: The tagdiv composer plugin is utilizing the filter get_post_meta in a way that is messing with the postmeta for GiveWP donations, and that is part of the problem, at least. You can confirm that by creating a test donation (you have to have the tagdiv composer plugin inactive to submit it) and then activating the tagdiv composer plugin and checking an individual donation to see that the form becomes detached. In a quick perusal of the tagdiv codebase, there are several different instances of the get_post_meta filter, and it’s unclear which call to that filter is messing things up for GiveWP. We’ll need to hear back from the team there to help!”
Is tagDiv doing anything to get this issue resolved? One of the reasons I purchased the Newspaper theme is that I heard the tech support and customer service were excellent. So far that has not been my experience.
Here is more help from Ben, who it seems has been very willing to help solve this problem:
“I’d love for the tagdiv team to follow these steps and see what they can find:
1. Install the free GiveWP plugin and activate it.
2. Install the tagdiv composer plugin and activate it.
3. Attempt to create a new Donation form (Donations > Add Form) and modify or save it.
“It will not save correctly, and it will display incorrectly on the front end of the site. Deactivate tagdiv composer to see how GiveWP is supposed to work.
“There are no console warnings.
“My suggestion would be for that plugin to only inject its scripts and/or styles onto pages where they are used, or provide users with a method of excluding tagdiv scripts on certain posts/pages/post types.
“I’m happy to have a developer from our team help here, but the problem is that the conflict is with a premium plugin that we do not have access to.”

I understand that this plugin is important for you and I’m sorry for all the issues, but unfortunately we need some time to fix the potential bugs caused by our theme for untested plugins. The tested plugins are treated with priority, but this doesn’t mean that we don’t care by the other popular plugins.
A quick fix was added in tagdiv Composer for this issue, so please reinstall the plugin on your site and see how it goes. Also last time when Anamaria suggested reinstalling it was provided another fix. But this time the donation form issue should be solved.

Thank you very much. I reinstalled Composer and the GiveWP plugin, and I was able to create a donation form. I’ve run the form through several tests, and it seems to be working! I appreciate the time you put into fixing the tagDiv Composer and resolving the conflict.
