I’m also getting this problem, but only when I activate “Enable HTTP (gzip) compression” in W3 Total Cache settings..

I maintain the same cache configuration as the previous version of the theme.
Using WP-Rocket

:\

@donuchiha
interesting the that you says Gzip in w3 Total :O regards 🙂

I use wp rocket, same issue breaking my site. Second issue with this crap update today. I will think long and hard before updating this theme ever again.

here is a short term fix to hide the search box, add it to the custom css:

div.td-head-form-search-wrap {
display: none;
}

I swear last theme I am buying from tagdiv

Congratulations on winning the “Big Man Behind The Computer” award of the day!!!

@ineedsolutions thanksk, at least no longer displayed bad LOL XD

thanks to @ineedsolutions, gave an alternative, but should not be the solution via Custom CSS, should improve their updates
I am seriously considering, leaving newsmag as each upgrade, problems, incompatibilities with some plugins as wp-rocket, wpml swtich, should not be problem for a theme premium 🙁

I completely agree, this is a TEMP fix until tagdiv gets their shit together.

I have dozens of themes, I keep them all updated. I don’t have problems with ANY of them, just this one from tagdiv. We expect better, your themes are nice, you have good sales numbers, but there are serious problems in your QA, professional theme companies don’t have problems like this as often as this theme has.

Are you guys using a child theme?

Post count: 76

I’m using a child theme (newsmag child theme) and when I updated to 1.7 I also got that very same issue..Even when I disabled all plugins same issue. I removed the search altogether following a tut I saw on here from the response to another poster, but I’ll go try this instead, since having a search bar is still needed for my site..Hoping future updates won’t be so wonky anymore..

Hi,

I have the same problem with the search bar!

Did someone answer you about it and told how to fix it?

I don’t want to hide the search bar, but i appreciate this alternative from “ineedsolutions”

Evertyhing was working fine before. I followed the instructions provided in “How to update the theme” section of the documentation. I followed the “B” method. Now I have this search bar problem. I applied the css fix but this is removes the search functionality.
I am not using a child theme and I would like to have the search functionality back. Hiding it is mereley a temporary solution.

Post count: 42

Yes hiding it is temporary, but since tagdiv released an update right before their weekend (not smart) its better then nothing. Right?

I am getting the same issue =(

Thanks for the short quick fix @ineedsolutions

Need help admin!
The quick fix is only short term, the search field when the magnify glass is click isn’t showing up at all. This newest update totally screwed up the search field

Post count: 25

Of course it is and thank you. I was merely trying to inform the developers that
1- It is not related to a child theme
2- It needs to be fixed, because the solution provided is temporary
3- Even if you follow the update procedure given on the documentation, it does not work so this is something else.

Hi,

Sorry about this issue, we made a lot of tests before the release on our side but this issue didn’t occurred.
I’ve tried to replicate this on our side but no luck yet, it must come from an old parameter which is still kept in the cache. Please try to delete the cache and the browser cache and check again. If it doesn’t work please provide the url so i can inspect it and see what may be the cause of this.

Thank you, Emil G.

I cleared the cache, deleted the browser cache, opened and incognito window but it didn’t change. I appplied the css fix to hide the search bar. It is still briefly visible while the page is loading and disappears within a second. The URL of my site: http://kanalfinans.com/
Kind regards

Hi,

@tsatiroglu
Please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com paste a link to this topic or provide details about your issue and give wp-access so we can have a look.

Thanks!

Post count: 25

Thanks to Emil my problem is solved. In case you are using Cloudflare try purging the cache by logging on your Cloudflare account and going to cloudflare settings. Clear your browser cache as well and try again. Apparently, clearing the w3 and browser caches is not enough if you are using Cloudflare. I hope this helps.

NOTE TO ALL…
a couple of us folk on the forum have done a bunch of speed testing today, and upshot overall is…

ROLL BACK TO 1.6 …

v1.7 does seem to have some issues causing CPU headroom, php crunch, and slow load times compared to 1.6.

Those who know me from these forums the past 1.5 years know I’m usually the last to say “sky is falling,” but in this case I am recommending going back to 1.6 or staying there for now.

I *DO NOT* recommend using v1.7.0 of Newsmag, at least on Linux/Apache.
