I’m trying to update the Social Counter plugin but when I try to activate it, I lose the access to my site and WP Console. I just have a blank pages…
To revert the situation, I have to delete de plugin via FTP.

Please provide the version of the Newsmag that you use and version of the Social Counter, as I also tested this with the latest theme version 1.7.1 and did not found any issues with Social Counter plugin(2.10)

The theme version is 1.5 and the social counter 2.10.
I guess you’ll tell me to update the theme, right? Can you send me a link to a doc/page which explains how to update correctly the theme? I suppose I’ll lose all the changes I made in code, right?

If you don’t want to update you don’t need to update just please use Social Counter version from Newsmag 1.5.
We have made some changes from then and the Social Counter 2.10 was not tested with Newsmag 1.5.
And yes if you want to update all custom modifications to the files will be overwritten.

To update the theme please follow the institutions provided in the guide I’ve pasted below and use the FTP method to overwrite the theme files.
Also make sure that you backup your current theme and WordPress installation so you can revert if something goes wrong: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
