Sorting options for category page

Hello,

I have the following case, I have a parent category named “WORLD” and a few subcategories for it like “POLITICS, ECONOMICS, LAW”. I have posts in these categories each of which has an extra tag for location for example tags could be “USA, RUSSIA, FRANCE” etc.

Is there a way to create an element that would filter the posts from the category lets say WORLD > POLITICS and have an extra filter for the tags. The point is that I want to try to make it possible to go to WORLD > POLITICS category and choose a tag an further filter for a specific country of interest.

I tried using a Flex Block but the issue is that when I add the Filter by Taxonomies option and write down my tags, it indeed filters the tags but skips the child category. If I am in WORLD > POLITICS and choose a tag FRANCE I get filtered every post in WORLD with tag FRANCE, but I want it to include the POLITICS subcategory results only.

Update – I am wrong, it doesn’t check the parent category at all, it just checks the tag, is it possible to make it use both 🙂

Is it possible to display only specific tags that I want to be choosable? When I add posts_tag as a slug it displays all the tags that have ever been used as tags in the posts, I want to limit them to only specific ones. And also – I don’t want to make the category as an option.

I want to have the category page for a specific category have an option to choose extra sorting tags.
