Hi,

Please tell me how you performed the update. Also, please let me know if you deactivated the extra plugin during the update, and if after installing the new version, you made sure that the TagDiv plugins were installed and activated, just like before the update.

Thank you!

These 3 sites all uses Tagdiv, and are updated like the resto of the sites we are reponsible for thru Blogvault: https://monosnap.com/direct/cewYxuLCWB5Rj3dd53izbJlCqtiniM

As you can see the thumbnail for these 3 sites are the same, this https://monosnap.com/direct/FdQ4NNLmg77DbFsGzh581tV2SL4Q34 – where the home page has been replaced by a form.

This is starting to become very problematic. 2 days I restored these 2 sites from an old backup to get the site back, but last night it was again updated with the result – the update broke the sites.

Hi,
If this situation happens again, I recommend checking the host logs to identify what might be going on. From what I can tell, it seems like everything resets and starts over, possibly triggered by something. Make sure to investigate thoroughly to rule out the possibility of a hacker or any injected code on the backend that could be causing these issues.
Thank you!

I am sorry but I dont think this is the reason. Last time it happend, when I upgraded to version 12.6.6, your coworker suggested to upgrade to version 12.7 which solved the issue. I feel confident that this issue is theme related. “Host logs” is like looking for a needle in a haystack. If this keep happening I dont have any other option than ask for a refund for these 3 sites and move over to another theme.

Hi,
Those host logs help you see what error occurred at the time of the update; it might have been something caused by the server or a rule that blocked the update process.
Thank you!

IS NOT A SERVER ISSUE!! ITS A THEME ISSUE AS THE EXACT THING HAPPENED BEFORE AND WAS FIXED BY NEXT UPDATE! SENDING ME ON A WILD GOOSE CHASE IS CONVENIENT FOR YOU IF YOU DONT WANT TO DIG DEEPER.

Please stay calm. We are trying to help you, and if this was a problem caused by the theme update then it would have happened to everyone who uses the Newspaper theme, not an isolated one, that doesn’t mean there can’t be something related to the theme that only happens in certain cases. I asked you to check the logs because in 99% of cases it shows what the error was and what happened, because in these situations you need to see what caused them and which files gave the error.
Thank you for your understanding

Best way to do theme update is to always do so via FTP using un-zipped files; first on server deleting the td-composer plugin folder, and the theme folder; then uploading fresh copies, then going into the plugin manager in WP admin, and activate td composer. This is how we do it without any issues; running latest WP and PHP 8.3x. And, always make backups so you can roll back if you mess something up.

This reply indicate what I was suspecting; your theme is not coded according to best practises as I never came across a WordPress theme in my 20+ year as a webdesigner where FTP is the “safest” way to upgrade. I will have to consider finding another theme.

I’ve been building websites since 1995 and FTP has *always* been the best way to update themes due to various localized file permissions, folder ownerships, how WordPress was installed (eg., WP can behave differently if installed via Plesk panel, etc.); time outs on your system during updates causing missing file, unzip issues at server level, mix of old/new files in some cases if server/domain/site/wp does not first properly remove the old files prior to install new ones; caching issues (are you disabling cache prior to updating?) causing mixed content; conflicting plugins, etc.

Just giving some friendly advice from an elder webdev who has “seen it all” over the years and we run in paranoia mode over here.

Good luck! (I don’t work here; but have used Tagdiv products since they launched). Not meaning any insult or anything, just some friendly feedback.

I purchased Newspaper 12 theme today but it is showing error when I try to customize it. Please find the error:
Error at zones: 6(models) : 5(dom). The model does not match the content Current state has involved an issue. You could try an UNDO operation (CTRL+Z / CTRL+SHIFT+Z)

Please help

Hi gamenintendo,
This issue can occur for a number of reasons.
Please start by checking this troubleshooting guide:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-not-working/

If the issue appears on only one specific page, try restoring a previous version using WordPress revisions:
https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/complete-guide-to-wordpress-post-revisions/

Also, check the Cloud Template used for the header and footer. If the issue lies in the Cloud Header or Footer, it could affect all pages that include those templates.
Thank you!
