Not sure how to fix this one and we have been trying.

We have been trying to add an installed widget to the front main page of the site.
The widget is available on the other pages of the site, but not when trying to add it to the front page.

The widget is the Feedburner Form widget. Again, it shows up with no issues on the Widget Admin screen and on ALL pages inside the site. The ONLY place it does not show up is when trying to add it to the front PAGE and editing the front page with the Visual editor like normal. It does not show as an option to add.

Here is an example showing the problem –

You can see it working fine here on a page inside the side (and on every other page other then the front page) – http://www.ilike2complain.com/category/entertainment/

But on the front page we can not add it as it is not an option to add when trying to edit the “page” – http://www.ilike2complain.com/

i am able to make it show by adding the “widgetised sidebar” to the front page, but that messes up the front page as you can’t edit what is in the block now.

There has to be a better way to make the installed widget show up as one of the options you CAN add to the front page without resorting to using the Widgetised sidebar option.

?

I figured it out by creating another sidebar.

BUT this could be and should be SO MUCH EASIER by just making the widgets available when customizing the home page.

Just a suggestion. Thanks.

Hi TVDinner,

Gald you’ve managed to solve it eventually.
Not sure if this applies in this regard but if the widget is available on appearance > widgets panel then it should also appear in Visual Composer’s elements/widgets section: http://screencast.com/t/cMlmGMuVOMK5 If it doesn’t you could check if it appear and can be enabled from Visual Composer’s settings: http://screencast.com/t/Gkdy87ah1
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the message!

I did exactly as you suggested and the plug in is still NOT showing in the Visual Editor options.

The plug in IS showing in the Widget page.

This is the plug in, which by the way looks great on the site and is far easier to use to directionaly point visitors to Subscribe to the site’s email feed.

Please advise why this wont show up like the other plug ins. thanks

Hi TVDinner,

I’m not sure, we haven’t tested that plugin with the theme, usually widgets should appear in Visual Composer page builder also. If you like we can have look, just send us your admin credentials via email and we will have a closer look at this. Please also include a link to this conversation into your message!
You can also address this to plugin’s author and let him know about this.

Thanks for the message!

Hello I am having the same issue as this gentleman. In fact I have 10 widgets that are not appearing. I am using trial and error with different widgets to do the same function but none are appearing in the Visual Composer or the page editor – they are however in the Widget section. Please assist.

Hi

Please provide your site url so I can inspect this closer.
Thanks!

Thank you it is MAinStRock.com. A number of the widgets I am trying to use are the GeoDirectory plugin Widgets. Pretty much what I need to do is pull in post types from Geo Directory to the home page.

Post count: 6535

Hi

I am not aware how GeoDirectory plugin works but if generate new post type then you can displayed it in blocks by adding its name in block’s filter options like here: http://screencast.com/t/rEne9rFB
Please note that this plugin is not tested with the theme and we cannot guarantee it will work 100%.

Thanks!

Thank you but that but that did not work. In addition, here is a list of widgets that also are not visable to use on the homepage: Author Recent Post, Query Wrangler Widget, and Ultimate posts to name a few. It just no widget is working on the home page accept the ones in the Newspaper 6 config.

The way I get widgets to work on home page is to make a new custom sidebar for the home page, and then add that in a column. All widgets work perfectly unless the widget is badly coded or tries to load another version of jquery or inject java in wrong place.

Had one stupid widget that would only work at bottom of sidebar not top as something in it conflicted with the code in the other widget. We eventually dumped that one as being badly written.

Not sure that helps — just some feedback.

Hi

Thanks @Chris for your feedback!

@giovanni114
I suppose that your widgets are generated by some plugins and in this case we can’t guarantee theirs functionality. You have to read plugins documentation to see how they works then yo’ll need to find a proper way to include the widgets generated by those plugins on the page. Some plugins may require custom modifications in order to work with our theme. If this is the case with one of your plugins then my advice is to look for someone which can help you or hire a freelancer to do this for you as we can’t offer custom services at the moment.

Thanks!

Thank you Andrei, but we are not talking about 1 plugin, we are talking about 10 different plugins form different company. It is not that some may not work and others will, I am telling you NOTHING is working. All I am asking for is a simple request to be able to display post types on the home page, that is it. Their are hundreds of widgets that do this, but none will appear on the homepage. Unfortunately I feel I am not getting the proper support needed for this issue.

Post count: 53

Thanks Chris, unfortunately that did not work either. What I am trying to do is a basic function.

Hi

Sorry for any inconveniences but I am not aware how the plugins that you’re using generate the custom post types and especially how they are named.
In order to have the custom post type displayed in a block you have to insert the exact name which was given by plugin’s author. That name can be find by inspecting the post type source: http://screencast.com/t/PWiPXVPhL
By adding the post type name in this field: http://screencast.com/t/1EcoXJlqyct the post included in that post type will be displayed in block on any page: http://screencast.com/t/sBe0G1iB
This was just a basic example. I used a basic custom post type which didn’t required any customizations in order to be displayed in theme’s blocks. However depending by post type implementation you may need additional customizations such that your post types to be displayed fine by the theme in its blocks.
Unfortunately time does not allow us to provide plugin implementation support and if are required these customizations falls beyond the support can offer you. If you really want to use this plugins and you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to help you with implementation. You can hire one from http://studio.envato.com/

Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you Andrei,

However that does not address my main question. Can you be so kind and explain to me why widgets outside of the initial Newspaper 6 installation do not appear in the Visual Composer? (I have tried 15 different widgets all from different companies and developers).

As I am reading the threads on this post, a gentleman from your company said installed widgets should appear in the Visual Composer, all I am saying this is not happening on my site and I need assistance fixing it.

Thank you for all of your time and consideration.

Hi

I’am sorry if I didn’t understood your request correct. My previous reply refers at this question: how to display post types on the home page? By default our theme display only post, which is a post type from WordPress and I assumed that you have different post types registered or generated by some plugins and you want to have them displayed in blocks.
If you’re referring to the fact that some widget are missing from VC please make sure that all elements are enabled in Visual Composers settings: http://screencast.com/t/CqfghUEmzxw Some times the new widgets aren’t added automatically in Visual Composer so check the indicated settings.

Thanks!

Thank you for the quick reply. I am not seeing the section “Role Manager” under visual composer that I see in your image.

Post count: 6535

Hi

I’ve checked your site and noticed that you’re using an older version of Visual Composer. To have the same menu you need to update at the current version included in theme’s path, V 4.9.2. Here is our update guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
Let us know how it goes and if the problem persist please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your login credentials and we will inspect this issue as soon as possible, also include a link to this topic.

Thanks!
