I’m constantly seeing this “Waiting for fonts.gstatic.com” and a loading icon in my browser when viewing my site.
It takes about 30 seconds to fully load the newspaper theme dashboard.
How can I stop this I don’t want any calls going here if possible.

I tried the Plugin “Disable Google Fonts” but I still see the fonts in my source code. Does it only work in the admin panel?

I’m just coming back to this now. The link you gave only tells you how to stop it happening on my browser side.
The first time my site loads after I clear my server cache, it take a very, very log time (over a minute), none of the images load properly and it just says “waiting for fonts.gstatic.com”
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
I’ve cleared the cache on my server just now so if you go on and have a look you’ll see what i mean.
Never mind I believe it is a plugin issue.. Its so annoying because it is hard to replicate the issue manually but when I think its fixed it comes back. I just deactivated a plugin, cleared the server cache and it worked fine. But then it still worked fine after reactivating said plugin!
