Reset

Hi!

I still run Newspaper 4 and I want to upgrade to 6 as also my blog’s layout (makeupgeek.com.br). As I’ve changed a lot from the original theme, I would like to ask you if there is any method to reset theme settings (like categories to default and things like that) before upgrading.

Thanks!

Maria

Hello mmcmsp,
You do not need to reset the theme to it’s original layout because in order to update to version 6 we recommend doing a “clean update” which involves deleting your old theme, so resenting is redundant.
We have a topic about updating to version 6 in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/.
I hope this helps.
Thank you for your message.

Thanks!
But by reset I meant deleting theme preferences and configs like categories layout for example. I believe that is stored in the db and what I wanted was to clean all this data because I am honestly lost in my own mess! So I figured I want to start fresh and keeping things more in the “default” side so updates get to be more easy and database more efficient… Anyway I will update soon and lets’ see what happens!
Best best thanks! You guys have the best support!

Hello mmcmsp,

Unfortunately there is no “reset button” so things can come to their default state. People usually ask how they can keep their settings, not revert them :). A solution would be to update the theme to version 6 and then you will see new features in the main theme’s panel to configure the default state of categories and posts. https://forum.tagdiv.com/default-post-templates/
you can check out the category tab in our documentation as well.
If you have customization made to the theme (like custom CSS), it will not work with the new version as it was built from scratch to keep things as clean as possible.

Let us know how things go with your update. Best of luck.
