Updated the theme today and found that the div .td-footer-wrapper is overlaying the whole article on individual posts.
I’ve made it transparent for now just so the article is visible, but if anyone can advise on what needs to be fixed I’d be grateful. Thanks.

Further testing shows that this is an issue with the “default” post template which seems to have whole .td-footer-wrapper section in the “wrong” place.
I’ve tried deleting the whole newspaper theme directory and replacing it with the latest version, just in case there was an old copy of the template left in there, but still no change.
Please advise asap.

Yes, I “fixed” it by using an alternate post layout as described above. The “default” post layout still shows this error. All caches cleared of course.

Please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear your cache and purge cdn files if you use it. If it’s not a plugin conflict, please try to use a default footer to see if the error is still there. maybe some of the widgets in the footer were not added properly.

Thanks for that, we tried all that first time around to check – we’ve just done it again – cleared all caches again etc etc, and still the issue remains. We’ve also noticed that on the homepage the padding for the footer section is gone:

Do you have any custom modifications to the the default post template? If you do please remove it.
If you don’t please use pastebin.com and provide both files content loop-single.php and single.php so I can check this on my side as I could not recreate this.

Unfortunately i could not recreate the issue. The code from your files does not cause the error. I could not find any errors so the issue most likely comes from some place else. Please try to check all your modifications if you have them anywhere else to see if there are no open tags. If everything else fails, you will need to do a fresh install of your theme. The ftp way is the best choice. Do a back-up of your modified files and use this method to install the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
