The same problem with mobile logo sizes. They are also different in theme panel and in documentation.
Which sizes are up-to-date?

I’ve uploaded logo of the suggested size. I also uploaded Retina logo. But for some reason on Retina display it changes to other size (filname – snowyswan544x180-300×99.png ). See http://take.ms/2nC4t

This is the correct behavior of the theme. The logo retina should be with a size greater than to normal logo for a better quality on mobile mode. These details you can find in Theme panel, like this: http://screencast.com/t/fcGiKhHPDZX

The question was, why I uploaded 544*180, but for some reason the theme or WP changed it resolution to 300*99. Although I have a Retina display on my Macbook. Is that ok?

This happens due of the header style used. If you want to have the full size, please try to use another header style that will use a full logo size, as example -> Style 10.
