Hi,

is there a way to use custom taxonomies within the Newsmag-Theme?
I read that you’re planing to implement it – is there a roadmap or milestone?

I saw a post, where you gave some hints to implement it – could you provide some more detailed information?

I’m also looking for a template hierarchy to understand which file does what.
Couldn’t find anything like that.

King regards,

Guido

Hi

The theme have support for custom post types and custom taxonomies, for more details about this please check our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/custom-post-type-support/
We don’t have a template hierarchy documentation but the theme it’s coded according with WordPress standards and the hierarchy is the same. More details about this can be found here: https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/ Because the theme it’s very complex the file structure it’s a bit different then in a default wp theme. For example the theme have more loop/single files because have more posts templates. Best way to check each file role is to create a test install on your computer, then start editing and see how the your changes affect the front end.

Thanks!

Thanks Andrei,

what I want to achieve is to get the option to choose in the e.g “big screen Settings –> Filter” from one Custom taxonomy. There is only the option to choose from the Wp build in category.
Even if I set up the Taxonomy relation in the Theme Settings, it will not show up in the Filter.
Is there a way to make this happen?

Thanks.

Hi

To add a filter by custom taxonomy in block’s filter options you will need to edit the theme’s files like here:
– edit td_config.php and add a new field for custom taxonomies: http://screencast.com/t/O4md2SU0yrx
– edit td_data_source.php file and add the posts from custom taxonomies to query: http://screencast.com/t/GQnMoryOKvJ

Please consider that this is a very complex task which involve many customizations and very good coding skills. If you can’t do it yourself my advice is to find someone to help you or hire a freelancer to do this for you as we can’t offer any customization services at the moment.

Thanks!
