Updating plugins for Newspaper.
Is there a best way of doing this?
Especially the part about deleting files while removing the outdated-plugin….is that needed?

it depends on which plugins you want to update. If you are referring to the plugins that come with the theme, then they have to be removed and installed again from here: http://screencast.com/t/1Hahqr5Q
If you are referring to the WP plugins, then they can be updated from the dashboard.

Yes, it is recommended to disable the plugin and delete files before installing the new version.
