HI, custom CSS is working in 3.6, so I recommend upgrading to that. Fixed a lot of oddities from v3x. However, in some cases figuring out what class to edit is the tricky bit. I added CSS to change the date top left of pages/posts, and also add more space above below the post title, as well as more spacing below logo.

I just realized that featured images are not pulled out from some Youtube videos.
For example, I set this video url http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neRIuYUdkEA as featured video (post format is set to Video, of course) but the featured image is not extracted.
Then I changed the featured video url to ex. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcrbM1l_BoI for testing another video and the featured image is shown when the post is published.
I checked on Youtube that the video has the embed code enabled. Even videos from Vevo work as featured image.
Note: video does appear on the published post no matter if the featured image is grabbed or not.
Question: Is there a way to find out from which videos featured images can be grabbed? or a way to have the featured image previewed before hitting Save or Update post?
@Marius, I didn’t need it fast, and in fact I didn’t need it at all, it was just a suggestion to make the theme more functioning, this theme already have the most functions for customization and if you can add this one thing for bloggers, it would be really great, because most people are running this theme on News Websites and for them, having a pop up box is a plus one, so that was just an idea.

I want to change the color of the date as well as add a spacing between the date and the author name, however the following codes no longer work:

Looking at the style.css I even tried changing the color code directly as seen here:

But this doesn’t work either.
Yeah. Fyi, stupid Envato doesn’t always update the info properly. Radu and co have to submit stuff to their system and sometimes it updates, and they have to wait for everything to be “approved.” This is why when they do a new release, they have to wait for Envato to “approve” the update, and then when it goes live THEN they usually update the features info since they can’t do that until approval happens – why might be when they are sleeping. Kind of funky … (or what we used to call a “catch 22”). So, every third or fourth update you might see that and go hey… what changed. I just look at the text file now, as this is the “old school” way we looked at stuff for perl scripts, javascript code, and theme files before themeforest existed 🙂
So, not entirely tagDiv’s fault there. Kind of an “out of sync” thing between their time and Envato approval of submitted files.
FYI, when you download the theme files, there is clearly a file called “update_log.txt” … you can download the update zip file without having to install it on your website.
Good idea to spend some time familiarizing yourself with the files you’re downloading, as to what is in each folder and the supporting documents. Just a thought, no insult intended.

This is something that is really annoying when you update Newsletter. Please can you make sure you update your change log on Theme Forest BEFORE you submit the update. I like to see the changes before I install. Thanks.
Would like to request a Status post format be added as well as a block to display the status posts.
Block: The block would resemble Block 8 but without a featured image and with double the excerpt length (250 chars would work). Title and excerpt would be needed.
Format: Making a whole post with the featured image is just too much for a lot of updates in a news oriented site. The status format would need to strip out images and all shortcodes reducing it to a basic message similar to what you can get on Twitter.
Kind of threw me too, only because of the black on white or white on black reset.
However, totally worth it for all the new typography functions many folks have asked for.

I just upgraded the theme to 3.6 and I lost all custom typography: all custom typography reverted to default. Not a big deal, but is time consuming for setting everything up again.
Though I see that Custom Typography section is revamped with more options tu customize the look of the theme (thumbs up for that), but some kind of “warning” would be appreciated when there is a risk of losing already made customizations.

It would be great to be able to filter “related posts” accross the site and also on article level as well.
ie:
In theme panel
SHOW SIMILAR ARTICLE:
– By Category (currently available)
– By Tag (currently available)
– By post format (ie: Video, Gallery, Link, Quote, etc)
– Exclude by post format
– Exclude by category
– Exclude by tag
SHOW IN POST SETTING:
So i can include specific tag or category or both tag and category
Show similar article that matches either or both of the criteria below:
– By Category
– By Tag
So if I have post about iPhone Product Review with category “Product Review” and tag “iPhone” it will show other post with same category and tag, or if no match then default to category.

I realize that my site is growing and changing, and maybe my request for these type of updates is too much work for you to manage. However if I develop myself I notice that maybe I create conflict with your development as you also create something similar. Also, I do not want to have too many changes to core and maintain updates.
If you want me to develop improvement similar to this I can submit to you the code so you can implement in update.

Hi – is it possible to get the text block as a widget?
In the VC it is available which allows me to add text block and colour the titles as i wish like:
But I only have access to a standard text widget at the moment so can’t change the colours to match in the sidebar
Perhaps this could be a feature update?

My question is: Is there a way to create individual banner ads for each category in the top header?
If not can you add this for an update? Each of our categories will be different and featuring original content. I want to be able to target ads based around the content of those categories – contextual advertising is more effective than random advertising.

@betterretailing if you modify the theme file, yes on each update you will need to pay attention of your custom modifications(to not loose your modified code, of course if in the update that file is modified)
@prose976 Do you have knowledge to make this? i can only point you in the right direction, but we can’t offer custom work, and you need to make that on AD to. That can be apply on ADS to using conditions like is_category(x) shot that AD, etc. I strongly recommend to hire a freelancer or someone to make the job done.

HI, I believe you can uncomment some of the disabled functions for visual composer – search the forum for that info.
Also be aware that most theme developers who integrate visual composer often customize it, and have to test compatibility, hence why “the latest” version of things bundled with theme may not be included until it’s fully tested.

I run into this sometimes where stupid Facebook will grab the LOGO from the page, or the last image related to a post somebody else has already shared, even with the featured image explicitly specified. Similarly, with Google News they will grab a random image when there are more than one, even if the OG tags and an image tag are in the head area. Very very annoying. Not theme specific, more the robot grabbing an image “from the page scrape” and to a certain extent nothing you can do about it.
One trick, try saving the page to Facebook by hand in a status update and try to “choose” a better photo from the choices if an < > appears over thumbnail, and then they will tend to use THAT image for awhile as the one related when anybody shares the home page.
But YES, having link to image on home page should work, as I do here:
