Hello,
I have an issue, I changed the bg color to black to see what it would look like and it put it into a box, so I didn’t like it, I changed it back to white thinking it would go back to full width and it didn’t.. how do I get it to go to no background color and the menu stretches?
2nd, there is a massive line break on my sidebar, i zoomed out so you could see it.

1) In order to return to the full width layout, you need to remove any color. even white. You need to press the clear button here: http://screencast.com/t/ZVlGFFGL
2) Please provide a link to your site so i can inspect the gap and see where it comes from.
