404 Error when updating pages

Today I am having problems with updating and publishing pages. The error “Ooops… Error 404 Sorry, but the page you are looking for doesn’t exist.” comes up.

I’ve tried disabling all plugins except Visual Composer and also re-saved permalinks and the error is still happening.

Be sure to resave permalinks after updates; clear transients with wp-optimize.
If using Yoast SEO, resave settings and disable removing of stop words.

Might help some with this issue.

Well if the issue appears on a normal theme as well, there is nothing we can do about it as we cannot offer WordPress support. We are the theme support. You have to make sure your WordPress install is up and running before applying the theme.
Thank you!

I ran into this exact same problem two days ago. It just all of a sudden started happening out of nowhere. We couldn’t update any pages or posts. We run into the 404 Error every time. We tried changing the permalinks to a different structure and nothing worked. I ended up contacting our Web Host for help….They ended up needing access to our WordPress site and figured out that something had set off the Mod_Security in our hosting account. Only way to fix this Mod_Security issue is to have the web host whitelist it. After they did that, everything is once again running as normal. Hope that helps.
