404 Page Not Found Error – in Post

Hi,

We are getting a 404 Page Not Found Error in the post when clicking on the post block from the front page or each individual page.

We had set the permalinks to “Custom”, the error message goes away when we change the permalinks to “Default”, but we can not have 180 pages site display default permalinks that makes no sense to the users.

How can we make this work with custom permalinks and at the same time get rid of the error message another way?

Thank you!

It might be a caching issue. When you update your permalink structure, this should update links on home pages, other indexes, etc. as those are all queries to the dbase, so should show correct links unless the pages/home page is cached. Not sure if that helps, but this happened to me and it was caching issue.

Hi,

Thanks Christopher!

@uregnander89

Please deactivate all plugins, empty cache if you use any cache plugin and also purge files if you use any CDN service, after this change your permalink structure to default and then back to your custom permalink structure.
If this dose not solve it please go trough this: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Fixing_Permalink_Problems and this: http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Using_.22Pretty.22_permalinks and make sure you use the permalinks right.

Thanks
